Santo
Domingo.- A locust plague has infected citrus plantations with the
disease known as Huanglongbing (HLB), generating losses and damages
of hundreds of millions of pesos. .
Nearly
500 citrus growers from Hato Mayor and El Seibo, with some 300,000 cultivated
areas, have been battling the plague for the past five years.
The
presence of the locusts are more tangible in the orange fields of
Citrus East Consortium companies, Barceló and Agro company BHS
located in the Juan Jiménez section in the agricultural town of El
Valle, where hundreds of thousands of plants have been eliminated
because they were contaminated by the disease.
According
to Ricardo Barcelo, from the Citrus East Consortium, producers have
tried to eliminate the insect by spraying pesticides by land and air,
but this doubles production costs rendering the orange production
unprofitable both for export and the domestic markets.

Most Haitian advocates, will pull the race card the minute that one touches the issue of illegal immigrations. My stand is very clear and firm, regardless of your color, or race, if you are illegally in the DR., you MUST go. There are no common denominator between us other than the Island itself, to imply that unification is eminent is just a false expectation, which not even the most unpatriotic Dominican politicians have ever entertained.

I will ask for the last time since it really doesn't matter to me; why do you and others have a fixation with misinterpretation? I am not an advocate of any and do not play the race card! For the last time, at the rate those Haitianos are crossing the border. If the number double in 20 years, then what? I know, you will send all back to Haiti. My question is? When and how? I agree with you that to imply that unification is eminent is just a false expectation and it is not my expectation. Just tell me one thing, when the number reach, if not close to it, 6000000 than what?. If you ever meet rokiki, just one small favor. Slap a few ounces of common sense right through his face.

Excuse me for butting in, but I have news for all. Whether we like it or not, if trends persist, the migration east, will continue unabated.
As we, in DR become more prosperous, and if Haiti lingers in economic chaos, without assistance and expert help from outside, the ultimate result will be to erase the border and have us, DR folks, administer the western side. This may or may not be something we or Haiti, or the international community will see as beneficial or desirable, but it is a good possibility we must contend with in the not-too-distant future...
Again, if no major economic improvements are made in the west, Island unification will become reality. With some benefits for all, and a good share of trouble which may never find resolve.
We may now be poles apart in culture, language, and assets. But, we may share more than we care to admit. Hispaniola will become one. For the benefit or detriment of both. ..We shall see.

Mr. Jambdebois.
For millennia, humanity has migrated in and out of surroundings around the globe, seeking better hunting grounds. This is how humankind populated every corner of our world.
But when all the land became inhabited, people fought wars for the privilege of possessing the fertile grounds in question…. Invasions came and went and victors became strong, and of a particular race or culture who declared itself absolute owners, with demarcated territorial borders.
Still, all this does not prevent people with the drive to satisfy basic needs for survival, to invade the land of others. Hunger does not respect the laws, borders, distance, nor intimidation.
This is why, despite efforts to the contrary, people will risk life and limb to find food and comfort, no matter the danger involved, no matter the gamble in making it through. … Necessity says we must.

Maybe you are not aware of the environmental issues some communities are struggling with now with improper usage of agricultural chemicals. The equations has more than one variable (insectecide) organic or non-organic. I will also check valent tech!
DiPel DF effectively controls worms in vegetables, fruits, nuts, vines and other crops. DiPel DF comes in an easy-to-handle, dry flowable formulation. DiPel DF is listed by the Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI) for use in organic production.
DiPel ES is used for worm control in nuts, cotton, soybeans, corn and other crops. High-quality, oil-based formulation is ideal for aerial or ground application.
I will check the FDA website to see if valent is valiente!
Biological Insecticides
DiPel is the leading biological insecticide used in the world today. DiPel offers proven, cost-effective broad spectrum worm (Lepidoptera) control on vegetables, fruits, nuts, vines, corn, cotton, soybeans, turf and other crops. DiPel is an excellent alternative to traditional insecticides and provides effective worm control when used alone. As a tank-mix or rotation partner with other insecticides, DiPel is a powerful tool in insect resistance management. Several formulations of DiPel are available to fit the needs of our customers' pest control programs.
I left NY long time ago; life is good and has rewarded us with many blessings. Now is time to give back some........working hard to improve the life of others in DR.
Did you do anything for your “bros and sistas” after the devastating earthquake? C’mon! Hippocrates is my witness, we were there providing medical help to your “folks”. You see, we do not hate your people, we just do not want them illegally on our side, neither we want to UNIFY the Island.
It isn't locust. The article is wrong. The insect that spread the bacterial disease is the Asian citrus psyllid, a tiny insect that feeds on the leaves and stems of citrus trees.
OK?
yes, EQ= earthquake(1000 words limit). I don't not blelieve or advocating unification! All I am saying if DR keep complaining about not wanting illegals and allow more than 3000000 Haitianos to cross the border and lay roots in the east?? And, more of them are crossing everyday! Sooner or later it will happen and it's happening as we speak. Big boss??? A significant % of companies in DR are foreign owned; you pissed them off you have problemas!!! As you know, it is all about the bottom line. Think about it; continue to rattle your sabers, just don't point it in the wrong direction.
BTW: what unit were you assigned ?. Assuming that you are a Dentist; were you ever commissioned (Dental, MSC, MC)?. Just checking.....were you a ROTC product or direct commission?.Were did you attend OBC?; did you complete/attend CGSC?.
Jambombolo
Keep dreaming of union, dreaming is free.
Meanwhile back in La Espanola:
Expel all illegal Haitians out of Dominicana !!!
Back to the real subject at hand.
It is a real shame that these Locusts are affecting the citrus production.
Let's hope it doesn't get any worse,
detection and prevention measures are in place for the future.
I completed all the above with the exception I was a hardcore SF before I attended Dental School. I received a direct commission through ROTC via SMP. I attended IOBC, IOAC, ranger, jump school, Pathfinder, jungle school, SF school, CAScube and several others. I am beginning to wonder about a few things.
The Dominican Institute of Agricultural and Forestry Research (IDIAF) and the Ministry of Agriculture, with the cooperation of the Republic of China (Taiwan), initiated a project to provide alternatives to citrus growers in the Dominican Republic for disease management Huanglongbing (HLB), currently affecting the country's main crops.
Taiwan's ambassador in the Dominican Republic, Isaac Tsai, presented a check in the amount of RD $ 12 million 120 thousand to Agriculture Minister Salvador Jimenez, to start work on the project.
Monsieurs Ingle, Rokete, and Jambdebois.
If anything, I must agree with you, if nothing is done the number will surged over 6 million in 20 years or less. We are experiencing right this minute is a massive, passive migration that is only benefiting the wealthy minority whose only goal is greed and is not helping neither one of the two countries. The Haitian government (Diplomats), cannot careless about the living conditions of the majority of your countrymen living in the DR.,in the meantime we have to bear the human and socio-economic burden.
PS: JB that is a good resume: “V” identifier, “Q course, Jungle Training, was discontinued years ago,(Colon Panama). The IOBC is now IOBLC (Infantry Basic Officers Leadership Course. Now they have what is called DCO (Direct Commissioned Officers Training). CAScube is gone…..Jambu you are OLD (jajajajajaja).
You are a genius! Those boys have a fixation with illegals rather than reality! It is part of nature trying to reach equilibrium! Haiti doesn't provide basics necesities to the bottom crust, thus, they will seek help somewhere else. Guess what? The border is in walking distance! Those so-called Patriots actually believe by taking a myopic view on the issue will somehow extricate those illegals out of DR. The sad part, I truly believe that I was commiserating with forum members with elementary level of logical/realist understanding. The tableau is visible, unfortunately there is a clear difference between like and want and true reality. Mister RonEvane, you have a clear understanding of reality! By recognizing the facts in any giving situation, does not make you an anti Patriot! I will leave it alone; 10 or 20 years from now, lets see!!!
I hope you grow up to be like me! 3 miles every morning, squat 405, bench 315 and lots of thumb pushups. Regular pushups are for wimps! My only complaint, not enough time for a normal 5 miles run in the morning (work).
Also, Panama was the best kept secret tour-of-duty for a single officer during my time; Except the jungles with the natives cooking monkey meat.. I threw up for 3 days.
Everybody is basically saying the same thing.
jajajaj been there done that.....you are correct, best kept secrect in the Army!!! Did some work at Gorgas, and FT Clayton; do you remember Kobe beach and Howard Air Force base ( O-club) and the one in Amador. The AMEDD has gone through some rapid changes as well; some of the officer's advance courses you can complete the first phases on line.
Mr.
Welcome to New Haiti!
You guys are all genius, and social scientist:
Since you are so right,
is the reason why today, Europe has dropped all of it's borders, into one country.
The same reason why Africa is today only one nation.
The same reason why all Muslims have come together, to form only one country.
There are no longer any borders in the Americas.
La Espanola is the only place on earth with a border, and it won't last long according to your posts,
because you have already dissolved it, with your mouths.
Tonight I will go to bed, and tomorrow, I will wake up in Haiti.
Surprise I am a new born Haitian !!!!
Keep dreaming Jambo,
I won't die from that nightmare.
LOLOLOLOLOL
JAJAJAJAJAJA
Tempora mutantur, nos et mutamur in illis (Time change, people change with time)
If you do not have anything to say? Please say SALAMI with a capital K!!!
Ok Jombombolo
Come to think of it, I do have something to say:
EXPEL ALL ILLEGAL HAITIANS FROM QUISQUEYA NOW !!!
LOL
