Santo Domingo.- President Danilo Medina on Wednesday headed ribbon cutting for the overpass at the intersection of Ecologica and de Gaulle avenues, in Santo Domingo East.

In a speech, Public Works minister Gonzalo Castillo said the work, which forms part of the Duarte II corridor roadway project, includes 15 other structures in Santo Domingo East, totalling 36 kilometers.

"This work directly impacts the well-being and improves the quality of life of all the area’s inhabitants and all the motorists who travel on this road daily, saving time and money, in addition to other benefits," the official said.

The 43.50-meter long concrete overpass takes the Ecologica over the de Gaulle and features prestressed, reinforced slab, with two 3.60-meter wide lanes

From: Dominican Republic, (( DEPORT THE HAITIANS, BUILD THE BORDER WALL ! )) The only thing necessary for the triumph of Haitian evil is for good Dominican men to do nothing.
It was about time they did something, with that traffic mess. I hope that Hipolito does not try to plant some yuca there. En hora buena !!

It is ridiculous that, in D.R. for every little thin that the government do, even a letrina, the president and a bunch of "ass kisser have to go to inaugurate it, and talk a lot of "MIERDAS"
I don't see all this B...S... here in U.S.A when a road or a bridge is built.

I agree with with PORNUESTRAPATRIA, it is not necessary for the president to be heading the ribbon cutting for an overpass, this event should be done by the mayor of that city and the ministry of public work. The president needs to be in his office doing what he was elected (hired) to do which is government the country well. To much money is wasted each time that the president has to attend any event like this and other ones, money that can be use for things such as helping the disable people in this country. I can bet anyone that about 1.5 million pesos was wasted today just because the president was there.

The problem with this country is that the people of any little community or big wants the president to be there when an infrastructure is going to be inaugurate and that has got to stop.

The people from each providence has to demand from their senators and congressmen and women to do what they were elected for it and not always be asking the president to do it.

The U.S. President does it too but the country is so big no way to keep up with it. Now, little DR is like your kid advancing from Pre-K to Kinder, bet you and others celebrated that!

Ribbon Cutting: Not practical for big country, good for little country like DR where every little step counts!!!!

Por eso, all and only thanks to LEONEL, Danilo, and PLD.

That's right.! It's waste of good money and time. This function should be delegated to, as Bernies mentioned, to the Major or whoever had a hand in its construction.
...Or maybe the vice president, eh?..BTW, what the heck does Margarita do all day long? Specifically, what the heck is her function? Why do we need to be wasting big bucks paying a vice whom we don't heard much from?
She should, at least, be out there supervising public works and reporting back to the prez.
I bet she doesn't get out of her office much.

Please guys it is a small country after all.

And it is now a Dominican tradition that probably started with Trujillo and then Balaguer.

So it is a custom that most people enjoy !!

Cheers !!!
