Seoul.- Dominican Republic Export and Investment Center (CEI-RD) director Jean Alain Rodríguez on Thursday listed his country’s  investment opportunities to a group of South Korean investors, aimed at exploring the possibilities for business in various sectors.

The forum "Investment Opportunities in the Dominican Republic" attracted more than 80 Korean companies which were apprised of the the country’s many advantages for foreign direct investment in areas such as tourism, renewable energy and infrastructure.

"Dominican Republic, in addition to its geographical position, infrastructure, and other competitive advantages, is a country full of business opportunities, and like Korea, it’s a country full of energy, commitment and dedication to work and dreams of a better future," said Rodriguez.

The head of CEI-RD is currently in South Korea to follow-up on projects agreed between the two countries through Knowledge Sharing Program managed by the Dominican Government during 2013.

When the product is good, it sells itself......But we're not there, yet.

We won't realize the DR as a "country full of opportunities", until we can bring about the necessary infrastructure in the form of power generators, more roads, and one more seaport in Montecristi.

I believe they, the foreign investors, will come, but only after being provided with reliable, uninterrupted, and cheaper electricity.
We have the manpower and the skills to manufacture many a product, but wont begin to happen until we can have the plants to generate another 1.000 megawatts, or so.

With the two coal/gas generators coming on line by 2016, our electricity bill will get lower, and our standard of living should rise, significantly.
