Santo Domingo.- A Florida trade mission scheduled to visit Dominican Republic won’t count with the presence of Fla. Gov. Rick Scott, Sunshine State News reports.

The announcement comes just hours after a The Miami Herald blog published that “Haitian-Americans disappointed…” with Scott’s visit with the Fla. business leaders. No reasons were given for the governor’s decision not to lead the delegation.

Florida based exporters, business leaders and representatives of the state’s economic sectors will travel to the Dominican Republic for an international export sales mission this weekend, focusing on creating unique opportunities for companies and the state of Florida.

“Gov. Scott, who usually attends Enterprise Florida's trade missions, will not be participating in the trip, which begins Sunday and ends next Wednesday,” the outlet said.

Dominican Republic is Florida's ninth largest trading partner, with US$5.34 billion in two-way trade and the state's ninth largest export market with US$2.95 billion in Florida exports. In addition, the Dominican Republic ranks as Florida's 10th largest import market, with US$2.38 billion in imports.

I lived in Florida, and still have ties and investments there.

Big mistake Gov. Rick Scott, not coming for political votes,

he is not taking into account, the explosive growth and Dominican presence,

in South Florida, Tampa and Grater Orlando area.

Dominicans vote too, and are a major contributing force,

in the economics and business growth of Florida.

This is a non-story. Details are too vague to expose any plot, if any, for the opt out.

People read into it . Then, they take out of it conjectures to support their own political agendas.

I can't recall if I have ever seen or heard of a person who is more despised then Rick Scott.

I think if he participated in a popularity contest in So Florida and the Miami Cubans were the judges, and he competed against Fidel Castro, I can almost bet Castro will lose. Rick will win first prize for the most hated political figure with one with the highest level of disapproval in American political history.

This guy is nothing but a bona fide Ahole...........and that is with a BIG capital A.............I have no idea how this guy ever got elected. I have asked dozens of people if by any chance they voted for him and I still have not met anyone who would admit to be responsible for his election.

Well, well, well. Apparently, the Haitians are none too happy about DR furthering its business links and are now trying to sabotage it. !! How do you like that.!?

This is the ultimate in back-stabbing. The ingrates want us, Dominicans, to provide them with every aspect of their needs, -from ID"s, to work permits, to citizenship, to free medical care, housing, and food.! ..All free of charge, of course..And how do they thank us????....by undermining our progress and trade.

Can't believe this s#it.!!

Scott has taken 10 trade related trips since he took office in January 2011. His last trade mission was to Japan in November.

The governor has taken more trips abroad than former Gov. Charlie Crist. Some of the countries he has visited include France, England, Israel, Brazil, Spain, Chile and Colombia.

Scott defends the trips as a way to open doors for Florida-based companies seeking business abroad

There was no reason given, so maybe all these criticisms are little early. Sometimes officeholders have their own personal, human considerations that they don't want to immediately share with the press. Maybe this was a deliberate snub and maybe somebody in his family is ill. Maybe the critics are just reading too much into this.

ohhhvictor,

Tell me about Scott after he is reelected.

Seriously! Scott has been doing a great job undoing the mess Crist got us in.

The DR is Florida's 9th largest international trading partner,

9th!!!

That means insignificant. Haiti is bigger by a factor of 5X

Smart move when you think about it.

Time to give the backstabbing ingrates a history lesson on what happens when you conspire against us.

Deporten a 10,000 trabajadores a la Balaguer, para ver como se ajustan.

Miren como se alegran estos mal agradecidos de basta joder, y percepcion tuerta.

With ingrates like these who needs enemies. Proof the average hatean harbors nothing but envious ill will towards Dominicans.
