Santo Domingo.- Construction on the Santo Domingo Metro’s 2nd line is once again on pace after the fall of a column of rebar over several shanties under the Sánchez bridge (La 17) caused a delay of two weeks.

The incident in the Gualey sector cost the Reform Transport Office (Opret) RD$18 million which weren’t on the work’s budget.

Quoted by, Opret assistant director Leonel Carrasco said the money was used to pay 29 of the shanty’s owners and 22 tenants. "After the compensation, the work has regained its normal pace, especially at that point in Gualey, where residents had staged protests after the accident."

I thought residents of this area were to be compensated and moved elsewhere. Why are these people still living there.?

Glad to know the work has resumed. We need to complete this stretch and start with another branching out to Zona Colonial. This other one is sorely needed to add one more incentive for people to want to move there, and invest in the renovation of the many empty buildings in dire disrepair.

It will obviously diminish car traffic for the benefit of residents and visitors, alike.
This will be a major convenience which will attract many more tourists and locals for the daytime experience of exploring museums, beautiful architecture, and to enjoy the nightlife entertainment.

BTW, At the risk of upsetting some here, and being labeled a pervert, I would suggest to some with the financial might, to open up a gay bar there. I mean, with Brewster-the-abuser's, sponsoring, we'll probably get lots of gay visitors to check out the local scene,eh.?!

These criminals squat public lands and then have to be paid if anything happens to their homes. They should drop beams on the rest of the homes!

If I am reading this right, 51 people are currently RD$350,000 richer ... they shouldn't need to live in shanties now.

Stop lying to yourself, because your eyelid is drooping, and you are drooling out the side of your mouth at the chance of stuffing folded dollar bills at Rokete's Sheer baby blue G-string which hug her ass like a tight rubber band. By the way, she is anxiously waiting for your loving. LOL
