Santo Domingo.- Dominican Courier Companies Association (ASODEC) spokeswoman Laura Castellanos warned Thursday of a "fairly pitiful scenario" if the Customs Agency fails to heed Superior Administrative Court order to suspend the tax on Web purchases under US$200, slated to take effect staring Friday.

She said despite Customs’ “traditionally dark record of contempt of court,” the couriers expect it will do so this time, in respect to society and the media. "We don’t expect them (Customs) to go there and it would be a fairly pitiful scenario that despite a very clear Court ruling, Customs would choose to ignore it."

When Diario Libre asked if she thought Custom would comply with the Court ruling, the business leader warned that "if tomorrow Customs states it will implement the measure regardless, the couriers will obviously reject it because we’re sustained by a ruling by the Administrative Court."

Ignoring a judge shows a legal system not worth a damn.

A Dominican friend told me his business license here was suspended by a government agency for unsubstantiated reasons. A judge agreed and ordered the license reinstated and I believe there was a penalty of RD$6,000,000.00 a month until reinstated. The government agency refused. When it went back to judge he refused to enforce his own order. It was later found out the judge was was seeking a higher judge position and didn't want to rock the boat.

End result millions of US dollars worth of easily movable assets left here to America dozens of high skilled high paid jobs disappeared. The few other businesses in his industry doubled prices since a major competitor was shut down.

Now he is living large in America since he has duel citizenship.

Once again showing how putting a bunch of uneducated corrupt monkeys in charge of running our country makes us a complete failure to the rest of the world. Of course the monkeys at customs will ignore the court order so they can collect more money for everyone in office to steal.
