Experts look to create the country’s land management system

Santo Domingo.- Foreign and local experts meet in the country Thursday and Friday for the seminar-workshop "Creation of the Dominican Republic’s National Land Management System," aimed at divulging the experiences on the issue and use the instruments that contribute to strengthen the agencies in land use and planning.

The Economy Ministry hosts the seminar, together with the Chamber of Deputies, the Environment Ministry and the Latin American and Caribbean Economic and Social Institute (ILPES) of the UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), in Santo Domingo’s Hotel Crown Plaza.

They involve experts from Chile, Argentina, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Peru and other countries in the region and international organizations, including Jorge Matta, of ILPES.

The opening is scheduled for 9am with a speech by Economy minister Temístocles Montas, among other speakers.

"The international seminar aims to present the most relevant experiences on the subject in Latin America while strengthening the institutions with the consultation processes, validation and development of instruments that are part of the National Land Management System," the Economy Ministry said in a statement.
