Dominican Republic can be the Caribbean’s natural gas hub

Washington.- Energy and Mines minister Pelegrin Castillo met Monday with US Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz, during the Caribbean Energy Security Summit held in the US capital.

The meeting held at the State Department dealt with issues of interest to both nations, including the development of energy infrastructure and the need to maintain the island’s environmental balance.

Castillo, invited to take part by US vice president Joe Biden, said the priority is to expand the use of natural gas in the country and stressed Dominican Republic’s great potential to become the Caribbean’s gas distribution hub. "Our excellent geographical location represents a great advantage for the United States, with an export platform for the region."
