Haiti names greenhorn diplomat as ties with Dominicans tense

Santo Domingo.- Haiti Embassychief of staff Magalie Magloire has been appointed ambassador to the DominicanRepublic, Efe reports quoting Haitian Foreign Ministry sources.

According to aDominican Today Haiti Embassy ource, Magloire will assume the post despite herlack of diplomatic experience, and comes as Haiti-Dominican Republic continue withtense ties stoked by Port-au-Prince´s overland ban on numerous Dominican productsand friction over Santo Domingo´s decision to expel undocumented Haitians.

Maglorie was interimambassador since July when Haiti´s government fired Daniel Supplice, for in itsview, failing to "appropriately advocate" for Haitians during theimmigration crisis with Dominican Republic

Citing Haiti ForeignMinistry sources, Efe reports that the Dominican State has already noted itsacceptance of the ambassador designee, and is confident it would "strengthenties" between the Hispaniola neighbors.
