Industry leader says Dominican political elite has little clue

Santo Domingo.- Herreraand Santo Domingo Province Industries Association (AEIH) president Antonio Taverason Wednesday said the Dominican Republic has great challenges which in his viewaren’t often understood by its political elite.

The business leader saidsince the fail to understand those challenges, "they act as they´reacting."

"And I say thepolitical elite because ultimately we the entrepreneurs, from our associations,cannot make the changes this country needs. We help make the changes andparticipate in those changes," Taveras said.

During a Christmas gatheringwith the press the business leader said that if the politician, who can makedecisions, aren’t aware of the great challenges facing the country, then they won’tbe accomplished.

He said the country facesbig challenges in the world markets for next year, due in his view to theopening of the Dominican economy.
