Govt. to cut ribbons on major highways, roads in the coming days

Santo Domingo.- Public Works minister Gonzalo Castillo on Wednesday announced the opening of several major highways and roads in the coming days, located in the Cibao and South regions and Santo Domingo province.

The official said spans of the Santo Domingo Beltway, the Santiago-Navarrete and Bani-Azua highways, and the Sabana Iglesia-El Caimito, and the Santiago-Licey roads will be open to traffic within the next fews days.

He said the roads will have a positive impact on the economy and the productive sectors of the various regions and improve traffic and the safety of motorists.

In a statement, Castillo said work on Span 1 of the Santo Domingo Beltway advances, with inaugural slated for late February.

Span 1, of 17.5 kilometers, stretches from Haina port through the Sánchez and 6 November highways, until with the Duarte highway, at the 24-kilometer marker.
