Canadian company interested in Dominican products forbidden by US

Santo Domingo.– Agribusiness Board (JAD) president Osmar Benitez on Friday said that the second largest food company in Canada is interested in acquiring Dominican agro products that the United States recently banned, listed as hosts of the fruit fly.

The business leader said the company name is Canadian Fruit & Produce and revealed that a Russian company is also looking to buy Dominican agro products.

Benitez explained that the Canadian government has no problem in receiving these products because, as he explained, the country that does not produce these fruits should not worry about the Mediterranean Fruit Fly (Ceratitis capitata), which was the reason why the United States banned the entry of avocados, tomatoes, peppers, papaya, mango, orange and other Dominicans products.
