We have everything to be region’s logistics hub: port expert

Santo Domingo.- A shipping and port sector experton Friday said the Dominican Republic has the geographical conditions and technologyto become the region’s logistics operations center.

The affirmation is by Theodore Heinsen, boardmember of the Dominican Republic Shippers Association (ANRD) and seniorexecutive of E.T. Heinsen SAS, will speak at the Think Logistics event of the Dominico-SwitzerlandChamber of Commerce and Tourism, and the Swiss Embassy.

Heinsen, who will be joined by internationaland local experts to discuss the best practices in the sector, reiterated thatthe Dominican Republic can become the Caribbean’s logistics hub.

"The country already has a large portinfrastructure to move the ships at sea. In logistics we have high levels ofcompetitiveness and efficiency, taking advantage of multimodal platforms. Thisgives a differentiating value that makes us unique within the region," Heinsensaid in an emailed statement.
