Dominicans can profit from Brexit’s trade opportunities

Santo Domingo.- UK Minister for Europe andthe Americas, Alan Duncan on Friday headed a breakfast hosted by the British Chamber of Commerce of theDominican Republic (Britcham) where he analyzed the new post Brexit opportunitieshis country offers the world.

Prominent business leaders and officials fromvarious sectors attended the meeting which served as an open dialogue to exchangeideas.

Duncan stressed his expectations of stronger bilateralties between the two countries.

"The Brexit should be seen as anopportunity. Like the Dominican Republic, the United Kingdom is an island. Wehave always relied and continue to rely on trade. We have a long and proudhistory as merchants and in this chapter we now begin aren’t going to reducethis history, rather we are considering the possibility of establishing tradeagreements with new partners and strengthening the relationship with ourexisting partners such as this country," duncan said.

In his welcoming speech Britcham presidentJose A. Rodriguez lauded the strong bond between the UK and the Dominican Republicand reiterated the importance of signing new agreements.
