North-South Corridor Project plants native species tomitigate impact

Santo Domingo.- The North-South Corridor Project of the Environmentand Public Works ministries planted 400 royal palms in front of the BotanicalGardens, to mitigate the impact of the Colombia Av. expansion.

The reforestation effort ‘Ozama Verde’ also planted 3,067 numerousnative varieties in and around the town of Yamasa, Monte Plata province, withthe participation of dozens of students and government officials.

The reforestation program forms part of the activities tomark World Environment Day on June 5, when around 5,000 endemic and native willbe planted along the banks of the Ozama river.
