Dude, the last thing Haiti need right now is democracy... They need a strong leader who will impose order and once some economic growth has taken place and criminals power effectivetely challanged then can we dream of a democracy

RE: Haiti’s future: The Dominican vision.
If we are going to talk about overpopulation necessarily we have to talk about the two parts of the island. The Western part is overpopulated but not because of its extension but for its geography. That part has too much mountains. The East part has enough space for its people yet.
I used the word “official” meaning that the illegal immigrants are not included in those numbers. The source of that numbers was the CIA’s The World Factbook. I like that source not for it exactitude but for its great universe. If you have two numbers about different subjects from the same source you are supposed to have the same precision’s level.
It is interesting to imagine what this island could be with the two parts of the island working to its full potential: an unsurpassed power in the Caribbean. For that reason we (Dominicans) want, at least, two version of the Dominican Republic in the island and not two versions of Haiti and I mean two countries in our actual conditions and not two countries in the conditions of Haiti.
This is not about racism, this is not about nationalism, this is not about to take revenge on old enemies for all their atrocities against us when we were weak and they were strong now when we are strong and we are going ahead and they are weak and they are going back.
One of the reasons because of I love so much my country is because we have reasons enough for hating Haiti and we do not hate them. That is the way my people is. Haitians are not our best friends (and I do not know who is their best friend and even if they have one) but we do not hate them.
The problem in our relations is the same problem that would have a shipwrecked person with a lifebelt for one person who has another person desperately trying to use the same lifebelt. The right answer to this situation is trying to get another lifebelt for the second person not having two drowned persons (and we are not going to talk about how irresponsible the way that second person lost his own lifebelt was).
We do not hate Haiti but alone we can not resolve their problems.
And we have another problem too. The Haitian problems must be resolve by the Haitian people and they do not want to resolve them. They only have a lot of braggarts (coward braggarts) and nothing else. You have listened about armed people fighting in El Salvador, in Peru, in Colombia. They might be right, they might be wrong but they have fought (and some of them are still fighting) for what they believe is a better future for their countries. No other country in this hemisphere needs fighters more than Haiti and Haiti does not have anyone. The former president Aristides was one of the boys with no future in the Haiti’s streets a long time ago. Now he is an extraordinarily rich man and Haiti is in a worse condition. That is what ever happens in the Western part.
This is clear for us: they are going to exist to countries in the island forever, just two countries, Dominican Republic and Haiti. If that is going to be our reality forever then we need to make any plan over that eternal reality. We cannot live in harmony with a country in the present conditions of Haiti. The Haitians must improved their conditions and that is their work. They must do it.

The future of haiti start by a new constituition.
TN1804

Who is going to write it? Who is going to approved it? Who is going to implement it?
TN1804, wake up! The problem is far worse than that, but as I said, that is your opinion and you have my respect.

There is no such thing as a strong leader taking power who is not corrupt and a thief!

TN1804, you must read history.
The needed laws always come after the needed transcendental events.
And do you think that Venezuela before Chavez was a similar scenario to Haiti nowadays?
Even Cuba before Castro was not a case as complicated as Haiti. Dangerous times need dangerous solutions. There is no other way.

Our common future stars here:

They are going to exist
Two countries in the island forever, just two countries,
Dominican Republic and Haiti
