All i am trying to say dominicians should stop the hate, beacause people here has no ill feelings towards your people or haitians. and by the way i speak spanish and treat all dominicans as brothers. I know racisim beacause both my great grand father and grandmother who were of irish and portuguse ancestory used to talk down to black people. dominicans risk their lives to go to puerto rico and the people there dont like it, so why treat the haitians like that when you have a boat culture too. Thank you for your conclusion, it's easy to say than done, no one in their right mind will disagree with what you say , however the issues are more complex, there are historical facts, DR being less afro centric and Haiti very afro centric, Haiti present economic situation ect.. please stick around a little you will learn more. troy Nobody is preaching hate here, just order and survival. If the situation was the reversal and Haiti's economy was booming, I am sure that the Haitians would not like it a bit if 2 million undocumented Dominicans just "showed up" and crossed the border illegally with no proof of citizenship whatsoever and asked for any jobs at a lower pay than Haitians, stressed the public hospitals to the maximum with tons of pregnant women, increased and stressed the demand for transportation, housing and food infrastructure, and did not speak a word of French or Creole and used the already lacking education facilities competing with tax paying regular citizens. On top of all that, they did not make an effort to camouflage their religious beliefs and customs and had a racial supremacist attitude. Edited on 4/4/2009 3:02 PM by generoso. According to the latest unpublished figures the census is 40% Haitians, Dominicans and other nationalities. That leaves 60% British (Turks and Caicos). Illegal immigration for economic reasons is a worldwide problem not only in Turk and Caicos. Humans escape misery and try to find "better hunting grounds", it is natural for the natives who were there before to protect and contain their turf. Jailing and prosecution is not the solution to these poor individuals, deportation and/or enforcement of immigration and work permits so they will not be exploited is a more reasonable solution. Natives that sustain and support the system do have more rights than recent new comers that are economic exiles, not political, and they have all the reasons in the world to protect their country. So what you say, deport the illegals and fine the employers that exploit them, is not unreasonable. Edited on 4/9/2009 9:33 AM by generoso. "Speak softly, and carry a big stick, you will go far". |

Maybe you can resurrect Dessalines and Soulouque and make them zombies, so they can come and spark ethnic cleansing mad mobs, that the Haitians have never seen in their worse dreams. When you speak that way, contributors that want to remain civil just turn into your own worst nightmare, and passions are inflamed. In the present just like Dominicans were back in 1804 when we were invaded, raped, pillaged and murdered by the Haitian hordes of blood thirsty criminals, the Haitians are now at a disadvantage militarily. So it will be wise for you all to stop this flag waving nonsense, and threats, and resort to being more thankful to a country like la Republica Dominicana that has been so kind to Haitians, and so generous even forgiving them for their past sins, but never forgetting, WE SHALL, AND WILL NEVER FORGET! So thread carefully, my friend. Edited on 4/27/2009 5:33 PM by generoso. "Speak softly, and carry a big stick, you will go far". |

One idea is to fast track an interim wall, which would be the second layer wall as the USA one while the main wall is getting built. I call it interim for it could be built before the main wall is built, but it would be permanent as well. This fast track second layer could be built from ready made recycled containers, the ones use for shipping. Can you imagine how easy this is? Few miles of border wall could be easily built in a weekend or a week. Not only it would be easy and fast, the different containers could house military, border patrol base facility or to house them for they could become apartments. They could also be utilized for storing natural disaster equipments. These containers are very strong easy to ship and install. All around the glove they being used for their have great potential as renewable ready made items. Last year there was a great exhibition at the NYC MOMA using recycled containers. Below is a link of few of their many uses. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=65C9OLvmjpI "PROUD & Glad to have a Spanish last name and ancestry" |
