RE: Solutions and Trade for Haiti and Dominican Republic
I will not be baited into useless and non-productive arguments that are off topic. If someone wishes to ascertain their masculinity provoking me, they will not get a response from me anymore. If you have something to contribute to the thread, please do, and I will surely answer you, but it is useless to waste time and energy with unknown and previously unheard of posters trying to make a name for themselves, by inciting fiery exchanges.
The net can be useful communications tool, if you so choose, it can also be entertaining because of the interactive mode instead of passive such as watching television. Those who abuse it for their own ego gratification, are not stable individuals generally and have deep unresolved personality problems, and they are not well psychologically, just like shoplifters, trying to get something for nothing, and hoping to remain anonymous.
So if you want to share something or contribute, we are all ears.

I am a great believer in the US marines slogan: Improvise, adapt, and overcome. This thread was started a few months ago, and the contributors are battle scarred and tired, including me. It is time to move on.
(Or maybe mercy killing would be adequate for the lack of a better word?)

Caonaboayiti conceded to us, including Micaela, and we were so surprised by his sudden move that he had finally seen the light, and became an agreeable person. Then a few days later he came back as if he said nothing, as if nothing had happened, a case of serious brain washing and indoctrination.
Then he disappeared again, and is now MIA. LOL.
He used to upset and stir everybody pretty much, though, and at times he was a good soldier when he bothered to think before pressing "post".

Public opinion has to awaken to contain the Dominican-Haitian volcano that is brewing and getting ready to erupt. As economic conditions deteriorate further and the political season gets closer, more and more labor strikes and civilian disturbances will occur.
The unresolved continuous Haitian exodus and indifference by both governments will help fuel the fires of discord.
The DR and the Haitian government both conveniently do not make an effort to contain the Haitian invasion or take the necessary steps to police the border, so the situation is getting more and more flammable as time passes. The business sectors and security apparatus of both countries exploit with impunity the obvious business advantages of cheap Haitian labor, depressing the Dominican worker's income. This together with the rising food prices are creating a desperate situation with a strong probability of civil disobedience and popular uprisings.
The international community including the USA, Canada, Brasil, France and England want the DR to act as "scapegoat" and to absorb the Haitian exodus and mass immigration,
and if we allow this there will be two failed states instead of one in the island,
as the Dominican republic will also join the ranks of the failed states in the near future.
Documentation of Haitian nationals is not our responsibility, repatriation is. An orderly and peaceful repatriation of Haitians is warranted. But it will be difficult to accomplish until better economic conditions exist in Haiti.
This is why is it our responsibility as well to make the citizens of Haiti aware, that the international community has GIVEN UP on a solution to the Haitian crisis and instead want the DR to "assimilate" the Haitian problem and accept the Haitian nationals invading our country as Dominicans.
Haitians need to understand that their survival as a nation is at stake, and they are the only ones that
need to take responsibility for the welfare of their country, not us.
We have to wake up as a nation that has been dormant with this issue for way too long, we are facing a challenge of very hungry and desperate human beings that have nothing to lose. The odds could not be any higher as our survival as a nation is at stake.

First I would like to set some ground rules here:

1) Quote one person at a time instead of those pages with several posters quoted. It wastes the page and makes the post uninteresting and cluttered.

2) There must be a preoccupation to center the discussion instead of going on the insults tangent.

3) Back up arguments with real hard facts instead of hearsay and fiction of imagination

4) Be polite even if we disagree

5) If one takes the liberty to say something about one country, expect the same to be said about the other country too because we are looking for solutions not competing on insults.

6) Remember we are limited in what we can do because we are private citizens of our respective countries and do not have power to implement everything that we say.

With that said, I do believe the Haitian and Dominican governments must sit together and discuss issues of common interests to both countries and set up an agenda and timetable to resolve some of our most crucial ones on a timely basis.
I agree with the statement above that says that the business sectors and security apparatus profit wholly on Haitian cheap labor. I disagree strongly with the idea that Haitians are invading the DR. That is not the case. Unlike what the Americans did in 1916 and 1965, Haitians are in the DR to work. That's far from invasion in every sense of the word. Do not exaggerate!!!
The international community has absolutely no right to expect the DR to absord our problems in Haiti. Haiti's problems are for Haitians to solve and nobody else. The last thing Haitians want or need is for any nation to take responsibility for their problems especially the DR which is supposed to be our neighbor. We want to solve our own problems. As a matter of fact, the so-called "international community" butts in every time we attempt to solve our own problems destroying what we want to do for ourselves because they disagree with the direction we want to take.
Sooner or later, we will fix the problems but we are working on our issues.

There seems to be a lot of speculation about my approach in this thread. 4 Principles guided my approach:

1) Self-criticism

2) Refocus and structure the Haitian-Dominican dialogue and debate on common grounds

3) Set ground rules as above

4) Pray that my neighbors appreciate and implement a new approach in the treatment of each other

Those who agree with the above principles at a strict minimum can work and build productive relations that will contribute to peaceful solutions for the inhabitants of the island.

I bring up this quote from August 4, 2009 to remind everyone where we left off. I had not posted on DT since that time. To refocus, I would like to ask, 'who is Pellegrin Castillo and what is his view on Haitian-Dominican relations?

Conceded? Conceded what? And what are you referring to saying I came back a few days later? My last post on DT was on August 4, 2009. Micaela's last post was on August 3, 2009 on page 68.
