Rene Preval announced Haiti's capital to be moved to another city!

Port au Prince .- Haitian President Rene Preval announced yesterday that the nation's capital, Port au Prince, will be transferred to another place, to be given by specialists and where it is not affected by future earthquakes.

"I will come to the specialists to define, but let's build the capital elsewhere, where it is not affected by future earthquakes," confirmed the president.

France rebuilt Palace
Although the capital will move, France informed that reconstruccuión be responsible for the National Palace.

According to the president about 400 thousand Haitians begin to be transferred to a huge camp north of Port-au-Prince as soon as the troops of the Mission of Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH) complete land arrangements and install the tents.

"It will be temporary. The country will be rebuilt because Haiti is not dead. Our people have survived, "said Preval, who installed the seat of the presidency in a police station near the capital's airport after the collapse of the National Palace and all the seats of ministries by the powerful earthquake that on 12 January devastated Haiti.

Rene Preval acknowledged the government disappeared after the tragedy. "He just disappeared. The government ceased to exist, but has now recovered and is working with humanitarian organizations that have overwhelmed us so generously. "

In national message on Wednesday night, Preval urged Haitians to have hope for the future and assured them that survive the catastrophe and Haiti will be "a better country."

They need to start from scratch...Haiti has so much unused land...and PaP(well nothing can save PaP)it was a mess before the earthquake.

I think they should move it to saint-marc and build the palace in the hills with a nice view of the ocean.

Is not that far away from PAP and is away from the tectonic plate line that goes across PAP.Saint-Marc is still close enough from the south and north of Haiti with good roads(comparing to others) already in place.

Good eye guys, I was looking at Haiti on Google Earth and thought that the same spot at St Marc has a lot of potential. They can build a more modern and egalitarian city there of reinforced buildings with a more eco- friendly environment.
