According to Diariolibre, contraband from Hati to DR is starting up again. Soon DR will be flooded with all the aid that the Haitian govt has gotten its hands on. This has been ongoing for many years now, but right now its really a shame that the whole world is opening up their wallets to help out with donations. Right now all merchandise arriving from Haiti to the DR should be inspected to avoid this practice of selling off the aid and not helping the ones in need. Its a shame and should be made public so that aid givers can choose more carefully who they work with and how they work with the Haitians.

Also, actual accountability of all these NGOs and status reports...

I believe, amidst the tragedy in Haiti, the Dominican Republic should also be vigilant on border security.

Not just in stopping illegals from entering, but also of those that would try to take opportunity from this devastation on both ends; Haitians or Dominicans.

As people we are imperfect beings and can be the worse of ourselves, intentionally or not.

Actually the Domincans involved in this were arrested, but the Haitian counterparts that sold the goods to them are roaming around Haiti stealing more from the needy. Haiti needs a wake up call, things can not continue as they have in the past. Whats the point of thousands of Haitians spending 12 hours praying and wailing in a park, while the rest just think about stealing??? What worse catastrophe than this one needs to take place in order for that society to change??? You need to get the word out, people need to be held accountable there, things need to change. If Haitians mess it up this time, what will happen if this huricaine season slams Haiti and there is no one willing to help out??

There comes a time we each have a a reflection and a mirror to face and realize if we want to change Haiti, we have to change ourselves first.
