I was thinking well the Dominican Republic is ahead of Haiti in many things, but yet they are not too far ahead the Dominicans have double nationality which means that the best and the brightest Dominicans are capable of changing policies in their country but yet again they are not that far ahead of Haiti. NOW IMAGINE IF HAITI HAD ITS BEST AND BRIGHTEST INVOLVED IN THEIR GOVERNMENT. Think about it now. If the Dominicans have their top dogs working in their government and this is all they can come up with well then what if Haiti had its best. How will things be? Do you see my point? I would assume that the majority of the Dominican parliament and policy makers were educated abroad while the majority of the Haitian policy makers are just regular guys with no Harvard or Yale degrees now imagine if Haiti finally decided to call upon its children. In other words Haiti is BAD and Dominicans are a little better BUT HAITI IS NOT EVEN TRYING but you Dominicans are at your best. What if?

Im not quite understanding what you're trying to say. DR may not have the brightest politicians but we neednt ignore that this country is taking the correct steps towards developement. It takes time, we aren't going to see results from one day to the other if thats what you're expecting. Poland, 20 years ago, was a dump. Poeple were emigrating by the thousands, the politicians were garbage, there was no work/jobs. It was a mess. Now however, the situation has been changing for the better with many poles moving back. Again, it takes time. The DR is on its way.

A country, a real nation, is not built by its government; it is built by its people. The politicians are important pieces but in other levels you have other kind of leaders too and you have your own thinkers and the people who bring in all the great ideas usable for your society. (For example, the Haitian revolution is a consequence of the French Revolution). And then you have the best part: the fighters, the transformers, the heroes.

We do not have our “top dogs” working in our government. We have a group with its interests and after that group we will have other group with its interests too. Our treasure, our real treasure, is our people. The day that quiet, friendly, good, wonderful people say: “Enough” (and here you can see a storm in the most sunny day) then you will see why the Eastern part is so different from the Western part in our island.

By the way, obviously you do not know that the Haitian presence in Harvard and Yale is bigger than the presence of the Dominican Republic over there. And so is the Haitian presence in Massachusetts (United States), Paris (France) and London (United Kingdom). And so is the Haitian presence in Switzerland and Canada. Do you know why? Because the Haitian riches are far richer than the Dominican riches and they can pay easily what it is not so easy to pay to our people.

What are your limits in Haiti? Have you big problems for tax evasion, money laundry, administrative corruption, smuggling, drug traffic, and all those easy money “industries”? You perfectly know that there are no limits. (Yeah, yeah, we have all those problems too, but, Hey, this is not Haiti.) You can get huge fortunes and you can send your boys to anyplace in this planet (where they are going to be distinguish people with good manners and a lot of money). And I personally have heard those bastards saying that Dominican Republic is for the poor Haitians and it will be forever. They do not have any mercy for their own people and they do not care at all about the future of their nationals. Those Haitians, “the best and the brightest Haitians”, are not capable of changing policies in their country and they do not want to. They are not part of that mess they come from anymore.

The greatest problem of Haiti is Haitian riches and you are still trying to find the source of your problems in this side of the border. They need that mess to get more huge fortunes and it is no problem for them if it last another two centuries.

bad things happen in every country. some in more countries thant others, especially when you have poverty and corruption. i know i have seen many things in the news and documentaries about the dominican republic. we should not glorify the and breath more life into the the deases but instead find a way where we make our lifes better. no one country is better than the other dominicans will always regret the haitian invasion and haitians will regret dominicans prosperity and better half of the island. but this is what god has given and proposed so we must learn to do our best, live the best life that we can by always wanting to improve and help others improve.

the reason is some people enter this site with negative comments. only wanting to fight instead of trying to find a solution the problem. you and others are the same. and no one is perfect. some are better off than others only because of circumstance and not because they are really better. Haiti and dominicans neither are better than the other.
