I don't think we get any where with the attitude this kind of topic carries; and I will tell you why I personally feel this way.
First of all, I think that if some one feel so strongly that Haitian are beneath Dominican or vice-versa then they really should take a good look at whom they are
personally and then move on with their lives. I understand the complaint about too many Haitian Nationals flooding our country! And As most Dominicans I foresee it as a problem, not because of their specific color/Race, but because of the masses/number of them currently living in DR illegally. Now, I think this forum has become obsessed with "The Haitian Issue" This is DOMINICAN TODAY! Not HAITIAN TODAY! Seriously! Let's talk about better things, we sound like a bunch of Haitian hatin' Nazis. One thing is to suggest how to fix their migration problem, and another is to seat here and talk about them as if they where not human beings. Like it or not, all of us Dominicans have a little bit of black in us, if not directly from African Americans then from the migrated Haitians next door. Now if you want to fight the fact that they are taking over our land then that's one thing; but to talk about them as if they are the worst thing on the face of the earth because of their skin color is just not right. Now all types and races have their uglies and faults.... So please be kind to each other! There's only one Heaven and one Hell. I always remember this one phrase my father says; if you don't like then don't eat it!

Not to start a fight, but if you cared to check my inputs, you'll find that I have only limited myself to explain the reason for some perceptions. My fight is not with haitians, but with usamericans trying to impose their one drop crap perception on us. It's enough to say that I won't move even one inch from this view, that is, from my invincible contempt against that sociological trash. They might kill and/or blow themselves up with it for all I bleeding care, but they haven't the right to try and make us bow down to that monstruosity, which might create more anarchy and strife than we already have on our unfortunate country.

If you noticed Latauro, my comment was a general comment! I did not quote you or any specif person. I Honestly feel just so tired of all the Hatian-Related topics posted daily on this forum. Lets talk about something else, anything else for a while.... Lets give this topic a rest. We are all beautiful/and ugly in our own ways.... Heck we all have our own faults! And we all definitely know the USA, DR are just playing politics when it comes to this and a lot of other subjects.....Sorry man, got to go pack my suitcase! DR here I come....

Well, I understand everything about the tiresome "racist" rant that goes on, on a daily basis, but my topic was originally about dignifying what others were condescending upon. I myself hate the racist rant & card this is why I'm glad I posted this third comment in the tread, that was the whole point:

As you hopefully have seen, I didn't post this for competitive reasons, but I wanted others to see that you cannot go and smear a group of people and expect for a member not to reply and stand up for whatever ounce of dignity he or she has, no matter who's house it takes place in. I just wanted to show that you can stand up but stand up with respect, don't try to start drama or cause a ruckus. When people learn to think this way, even on the internet, perhaps it won't end up so immature and sad.

Paz!

Secure enough not to have to have to mention race at the first point or in every other post. Yet, and this goes without saying, on the flip side (positive flip side) I am glad PeRod stood up and was the first to mention the distinction of the U.S.'s one drop rule effects and the D.R.'s (or even the rest of the world's) denoting of identity with persons who share features from different peoples of the world. Perhaps the classification effects that stem from the one drop rule have led American's into not accepting each other as truthfully as we could with our beautiful yet complex phenotype intricacies and details. Perhaps we are so simple-minded like some Euros like to put it, that we only wish to see things "black & white" again, no pun intended.

The responses with this topic were interesting and show different thinking and also shed some light that led to some re-evaluation of one's own thinking.

Good stuff.

Ajá ciby, con que tratando de echar una canita al aire. One would think that you would have abandoned the Don Juan ways a long time ago. Guess that it's true what some people say "old habits die hard".

DominicanLady.

DominicanLady, you do not understand how dangerous the Haitian problem is for us.
What do your enemies want when you are at war? They want more territory and economic concessions and that is exactly what Haitian want from us. We are at a permanent and silent war. They do not want to sing our national anthem or to salute our flag. They do not want to live with our values and our beliefs. They want to be Haitians in part of our space until it can be “their” space.
They like to say that Pedro Santana was born in Haiti but they do not say that in those times that region was part of our territory (now it is Haitian territory –they took it from us–).
In the most irresponsible way in the universal history they have destroyed their natural resources and now they want our natural resources. It is impossible for them to have in their own country something more than a political stability fastened with pins and they want part of our political system. They already have an important part of our medical services and an important part of our educational system. They already have an important share of our labor market.
I have seen people marching because of the drugs, marching because of the violence against women, marching because of the breakdown of law and order, and marching because of some other reasons, but I have never seen anybody marching against the Haitian invasion. A lot of people think that if we do so we are going to be seen like racists.
What are we going to do? This problem is getting worst on a daily basis. What are we going to do?
We have to talk about this problem over and over. If we even do not talk about this incredible problem it is going to be worst.
