RE: Well...
Talia, I never have been rough with you and there are no bad intentions in my words.
Look at this. I really like JEM237. She is beautiful and here, in Dominican Republic, that is not what we call a black woman. She is not what we call a white woman (as DominicanLady is) but here she is not a black woman either. Actually among us she is a “mulata” (a very, very pretty “mulata”).
You can not take JEM237 as an example of the “black” Dominican woman. Perhaps in United States she is simply as black as Martin Luther King, Jr. but that is not the case in our country.
Look at Nina Simone (a great American jazz artist) in 1969. Look at her hair, her nose and her lips. That is what “we” call a black woman (and she was an extraordinary black woman).
Can you understand what I am trying to say when I am talking about black Haitian women and what is the standard in Haiti?

In other words, in the DR we don't (and apparently will never) follow the so called "one drop" rule. It's not that hard to understand, really.
"A man who strives after goodness in all his acts is sure to come to ruin, since there are so many men who are not good."

Niccolo Macchiavelli - The Prince

RE: Well...
well i think theres no correct definition of beauty, everyone has their taste on women and men and to say that there' re are no beautiful haitian women is obsurd, because there are some, not to your taste, but there are some indeed. Same in DR , there are pretty and ugly girls from there.

RE: Well...
DRbabi809, you are right, people can be so ignorant and something more (Are you looking to your mirror?).
Do you have any problem with comprehensive reading?
Nobody is talking about the “correct definition of beauty” and nobody, absolutely nobody is saying that “there are no beautiful Haitian women”. (It is unhealthy to start drinking so early).
We are talking about what is the standard Haitian woman and naturally that woman is a black woman with the characteristics of a black woman.
How can a person to speak about the Haitian woman without showing just one picture of a real black woman (“black” as we know it)?
That is the point, without any offense to the Haitian woman.

Nina Simone

You're right Jem and many other dominicanas are gorgeous and so is Miss Nina Simone but PeRod, interestingly enough I never even had the one-drop rule in mind when posting those pictures. Being Haitian is not just a color its a nationality first. But to entertain your colorist views (with disdain I might add), there are woman of many shades in Ayiti too and yes with a prevalence of darker skin. From a sunny environment with a rich dark hue to some with a lineage of mixed races in lightness. All haitianas are beautiful. They are people first don't you ever forget it- you'll miss how beautiful a person really is when you write them off just for not being your favorite color.

It seems as though some of you have missed the point in this response topic that was conjured here. I was ORIGINALLY replying to a negative post made about haitian women as ALL sad, unsightly, and disgusting (if its just an opinion, it was done way too insensitively).
Its important to not just look at the pictures posted but to read what was written:

"As you hopefully have seen, I didn't post this for competitive reasons, but I wanted others to see that you cannot go and smear a group of people and expect for a member not to reply and stand up for whatever ounce of dignity he or she has, no matter who's house it takes place in. I just wanted to show that you can stand up but stand up with respect, don't try to start drama or cause a ruckus. When people learn to think this way, even on the internet, perhaps it won't end up so immature and sad. Paz!
... and that's not all "she wrote" b/c there are beautiful haitianas all over inside-and-out! The fact of the matter is we're people and we love ourselves just as much as anyone else. Beauty is not the main point of the matter but dignity and integrity and I and many others can argue that even in an arena that's not ours, but with court and respect. Thank you."

And absolutely nothing justifies the presentation of that woman punched in the eye, real or not. Something has to be said for disrespect and mockery such as that. It won't be taken.

ARKATYPE POSTED:
Haitian Woman yuck yuck ugly beast!!!!!

IT'S JUST PLAIN RUDE AND DESPICABLE- not funny at all! You have your opinions, that's fine. But you don't have to step and spit on people to get your point across.
