On the surface it looks like a phony attempt. Anyone who is serious about suicide can do it successfully - it's not rocket science. "Arguing on the internet is like running in the Special Olympics... Desperation make people do stupid things there are so many possible angles to this story, it boggles the mind. maybe the guy was just looking for attention. who knows what motivates people to do something like this. as Roy points out, the wounds were superficial, so maybe he did not really mean to go through with it. it sets the thought processes in motion. when you have none, then you come to one simple conclusion. accent on the word SIMPLE. as in SIMPLETON. |

The singer, whose real name is Mark Myrie, was told at Tampa federal court that he must serve five years' probation following prison. Previously the Dancehall artist had insisted in court that he had been merely boasting about the deal. Prosecutors conceded he had never put money into a deal or profitted from it. His record Before the Dawn won best reggae album at the Grammy Awards ceremony earlier this year. In February the star was convicted of conspiracy to possess cocaine with the intent to distribute it, along with a further drug trafficking offence and a gun charge. He was acquitted of a fourth charge for attempted cocaine possession It was Banton's second trial - his first ended in September when the jury was unable to reach a verdict. Much of the case hinged on video and audio recordings taken by an informant and by Drug Enforcement Administration personnel. The informant was paid $50,000 (£31,000) after Banton's arrest in December 2009, along with two others. One video shown to the jury showed Banton apparently tasting cocaine in a Florida warehouse. A co-defendant later gave the informant $135,000 (£83,705). He and another man pleaded guilty to drug charges in the case. It is a floating currency, so the market decides what its value is. 2) The DR Peso has been in steady decline against most major currencies. 3) A drop in the exchange rate makes imports more expensive and exports cheaper. However DR has a very small export industry. Tourism is the biggest, and money from Dominicans working in USA is second. Price is a factor with tourism, but other factors are hurting the industry more than price. (Crime, corrupt police, fear of Cholera, poor service, pollution, etc.) Remember air-fares to and from DR are not in DR Pesos either. A low Peso is bad for DR's second largest earner too. Back in 1966 the DR Peso was fixed 1:1 parity to the US dollar. "If you want to sleep well at night, it's best to avoid watching the making of sausages or politics." Otto Von Bismarck |

Wow, what a huge drop over just two generations. In general terms, what does this mean? The DR government boasts of a growing economy, but if it is measured in Pesos then who are they kidding? Neither the world investment community or the UN fall for this stuff. Perhaps only the majority of DR voters? Maybe self delusion is the hallmark of the majority of Dominican people? The plummeting Peso does not represent hyperinflation yet, however it is still very detrimental to the economy. What currency does Leo collects his frequent-flyer-miles points in?
