I doubt it. Besides, Spaniards are NOT Latinos, even though when in the States they tend to identify as such when it's in their favor, such as in the entertainment business.

Dont let your resentments get in the way of your heritage Ciby you would be surprised about the Spaniards they are the most wonderful people in the world .. ...as long as they stay in their own country

The Andalusian people put their stamp on the Caribbean Latino personality when they came with Colon unfortunately they stopped coming and we got a bunch of Gallegos and Asturianos thereafrer

Actually the caribbean peoples are more culturally indebted to the Canary Islanders than any other region of Spain. Canarios also accompanied Columbus and if you're familiar with their accent you would notice the undoubtable similarity to caribbean Spanish, even if theirs has been modified somewhat by the godos as of late.

Wishful thinking on your part ciby the crews of Columbus voyages and most of the early voyages to the new world were warriors from Extremadura and Andalusia having lived over 4 years in this part of Spain and retracing all the voyages of Colon many times from Palos and Puerto Santo Maria Cadiz etc my residence was two blocks from the ancestral home of Ponce de Leon Los canarios are a foot note on the early voyages and who were the crews Ciby?...... A conquistador from the Canary islands ? I think not . ....Los hermanos Pinzon possibly the real heroes of the discovery who have been written out But anyway that is another story .But through the Coto Donana to Palos dela frontera I have been many times and San Lucar de Barrameda at least a hundred as well as Puerto Santa Maria and Cadiz this History I know very well Los Canarios was a pit stop on the way Saying speech patterns are similar does not prove your point as the people of Newfoundland have very similar speech patterns as the people of the British west indies

Goulet, there were undoubtably Canarios with Columbus (that's where he sailed from!). Nowhere did I state that they made up his entire crew or even a majority of it. Also, If you knew the history of the caribbean well you would know about the waves of Canary Islanders that were sent to our shores during the colonial period. Many of us undisputably descend from these people, present company included.

Yes I agree Ciby but the foundation the true early warrior class that came to the new world had been fighting the Moors for hundreds of years. The Discovery proved to be a safety valve for Spain to get rid of these guys after defeating the moors finally at Granada 1492 These were the warriors of EL Cid and all the towns of the south where the name frontera exists was the border between them They were tough guys from Extremadura and Andalucia....Poverty brought los Canarios to the New world just like the Irish and later and yes their influence is felt The early crews from Palos and Sanlucar Cadiz etc would need to be augmented in the Canaries ....Ciby you are so sad I figured you for Portuguese and Caribbean history I seen a lot of that also the problem with a lot of it is it is being rewritten by Afrocentric down islanders who have an axe to grind just like the Mexicans with the Spanish

Indeed. There's a black supremacist out there called oupala which is making his own fabricated history of Hispaniola as we speak.
