Ashton Kutcher cautions 2 million people about flying Airbus
Ashton Kutcher cautions 2 million people about flying Airbus
People have been speculating about whether Airbus has a public relations problem.

It does.

Actor Ashton Kutcher, actress Demi Moore, and CNN host Wolf Blitzer arrive at the White House Correspondents' Association dinner on May 9. (Brendan Hoffman/Getty Images)Actor Ashton Kutcher cautioned his fans on Wednesday that a pilot recommended to him not to fly on Airbus until the manufacturer's composite tail is declared safe.

Kutcher shared this message via Twitter.

His exact words were: "A 30 year vetran pilot recommended 2 me that I dont ride on an airbus until they prove that the composite tail is not creating ths accidents."

He then adds that, "I'm not a big fear person I just felt it would be neglegent to not share."

Who the heck cares what a U.S. actor thinks? Clearly, we shouldn't make flying decisions based on his opinion.

But the problem for Airbus is that Kutcher has has 2,546,626 "followers" on Twitter, as of the time that I'm writing this. That means that every time Kutcher says something, potentially 2,546,626 people are reading it and forming opinions.

Two Airbus aircraft crashed in June. An Air France jet crashed June 1 in the Atlantic Ocean, killing 228 people en route to Paris from Rio de Janeiro. A Yemenia jet crashed Tuesday carrying 153 people from France to Comoros via Yemen. One teenage girl survived.

The cause of both crashes is still unknown.

Here's a screen capture of Kutcher's "tweet." Notice that he goes on to discuss the topic with fans:

Hey, just because he's an actor doesn't mean he doesn't have a brain or is incapable of rationalizing...even before he said this I wouldn't have gotten on one of those froggy death traps. I think that what's been going on with those planes is beyone the realm of coincidence. That's just me, though.

Those are my exact thoughts. It's beyond coincidence; That's why I started a thread a few weeks ago in Regards to AIRBUS CRASHES: Airbus, American Airlines flight 587, and other observations.

IN RESPONSE WHAT DID I GET? A bunch of the usual soothsayers saying everything is fine, go back to sleep; These gatekeepers (are cunning and perplexing yet predictable), since there's no other name that fits a civilian who will come out to defend organizations that most people have no real knowledge of who they are and their motives. Yes these agent provocateurs, that frequent places like these internet forums to assure everyone that everythings is fine; "Don't rock the boat", have another Heineken, it's all in your mind! Blow off steam by believing in fantasy; Got to DisneyWorld or something!. These fools don't fool anyone, but, themselves!

Airbus May Face Calls To Ground All Long-Range Airliners
Thu, 02 Jul '09

AF447 Incident May Prompt The Move
French accident investigators are expected to release a preliminary report in the crash of Air France Flight 447 Thursday, and industry analysts say Airbus may face calls to ground it's entire fleet of long-range airliners as a result.

The Times of London reports the European Aviation Safety Agency may ask Airbus why it has not taken action to remedy a well-documented problem with the A330 and A340 series of aircraft. While weather is likely to be cited as a factor in the June 1st incident, the paper reports that the EASA is likely to focus on faulty electronic speed reporting equipment as the principal problem leading to the breakup of the airplane in flight.

Nearly 1000 of the airplanes are in service, and the Air France 447 disaster is the first time one has been involved in an incident with passenger fatalities.

“EASA has a legal and moral obligation to get to the bottom of this problem now. If there is a defective system and the aircraft is unsafe then it should be grounded,” said James Healy-Pratt of Stewarts Law in London, a firm, which specialises in aviation.

ANN reported late in June that the NTSB is investigating two other incidents involving A330 series aircraft in which the crews got faulty airspeed information from the triple-redundant pitot tubes and onboard computers. The Times reports that this week it was discovered that Airbus first reported problems with the system in 1994. The company suggested remedies, did not require any action be taken.

This week, a second Airbus was lost in the Indian Ocean off the coast of Comoros, but it was an older A310 series aircraft operated by Yemenia Airline, which European officials said had a questionable history of maintenance.

Another Airbus crash:
Dutch boy believed to be sole survivor when plane carrying 104 crashes
The accident happens as the aircraft tries to land in Tripoli, Libya, on a flight from South Africa. Dozens of the victims are from the Netherlands.
May 12, 2010|By Jeffrey Fleishman, Los Angeles Times Staff Writer
Reporting from Cairo — A 10-year-old Dutch boy was believed to be the sole survivor Wednesday after a passenger jet bound from South Africa with 104 people aboard crashed while attempting to land in the Libyan capital, Tripoli, according to rescue officials and news organizations.

The Afriqiyah Airways Airbus 330 was descending toward a runway at the Libyan International Airport about 6:10 a.m. on a flight from Johannesburg that was reportedly scheduled to continue on to Gatwick Airport in London. The Royal Dutch Tourism Board said that 61 of the victims were from the Netherlands.

Libya's Transport Minister Mohamed Zidan said a child with a Dutch passport was from taken from the crash site. "The child is in good condition and is in the hospital undergoing checks," the minister told a news conference at the airport.

The cause of the crash, which occurred close to the runway, is under investigation. Zidan said Libyan officials "definitely ruled out the theory that the crash was the result of an act of terrorism."

Authorities said the plane's two black boxes had been found amid the shattered fuselage and scattered debris, luggage and clothing. The aircraft was carrying 93 passengers and 11 crew. There were conflicting accounts about the death toll. Ninety-six bodies had been recovered, but Dutch Prime Minister Peter Balkenende, speaking to reporters in Holland, said the child was the only known survivor.

"I can confirm the crash but not the number of the dead," Bongani Sithole, an official of the airline at Johannesburg airport, told AFP. "We hear that it happened one meter [yard] away from the runway."

Afriqiyah Airways announces "that our flight 8U771 had an accident during landing at Tripoli International airport," a statement from the airline said. "At this moment, we have no information concerning possible casualties or survivors. Our information is that were 93 passengers and 11 crew aboard. The competent authorities are conducting the search and rescue mission."

The airline, which operates an all-Airbus fleet of 11 planes, is managed by the LibyaAfrica Investment Portfolio. Flight 771 was reported to have logged about 1,600 flight hours.
