The community and schools help when raising kids but it is ultimately about the education they receive within the household. I know plenty of suburban kids that went astray - their families just manage to keep the issues hush hush because no one's watching like here in the city. Santana, do avoid South Florida, it is ghetto and definitely not worth leaving NYC for. ![]() Domininicanchic; The issue being disscussed was not about NYC per se; The brother hinted that he wanted to move-out of the City; if you might allow me to point out. So, for you NYC is fine; that's fine! I have adult children that live within the boroughs; I know the feeling of "nowhere but New York". I lived there from 1963; But I have also moved to other places and can see that there is life outside of the Hudson River - Long Island Sound constraints. Life's too short to spend it in a apartment! Havoc and mayhem will rule in NYC before you can shake a stick. Don't fall asleep on the assurances of peace and security that Bloomberg may provide, just consider the amount of people that will perish as the economy continues to deteriorate and a living nightmare will replace the conditions that exist presently. If you choose not to believe it. That's on you. Allow others that want to save their children and spouses from being trampled, and experience deprivation. To remain is foolish. I walked those streets for decades before many of those on this forum were even living. Freedom of movement is still available. Now is the time to do so before major metropolitan areas are quarantined. To each his own or her own. My response to santana1979 still stands: Mudate lo mas rapido que puedas! I agree to disagree with you. But, allow others to act upon their premonitions! We are born alone, and die alone. Hola friend, Atleast on paper Im not Dominican , But I have spent the last FOUR years living in the D.R and Florida . Though Broward county may offer you a bit more tranquility , you will definitly not find the island culture and authenticity you are accustomed to anywhere except in Miami which is why I choose to live here when Im not on the island . As you may already know , Miami is the gateway to the carribean and could very well be its own Latin country . Though not located in the most glamourous sections of paradise , There are many Dominican people and negocios scattered throughout the city and some that would make you feel right at home . However , the suburban north and south beach areas are predominatly Latin based, very easily accesible to all points within the city and Broward county , as well as safe and beautiful .. Coral gables , Biscayne BAY AREA are also very desirable. Edited on 7/23/2009 2:15 PM by Reydeladanza. |
