Where were you on July 20, 1969?
This is for the Baby Boomers, and the grown folks in the family:
"los pollitos hablan, cuando las gallinas....."

Where were you on July 20, 1969?

When the Apollo 11 Crew appeared on the tube moon walking?

Can you remember where you were?

I surely can!

I was in Santo Domingo, visiting relatives in el Ensanche Paraiso almost at the corner of la Ave. Abraham Lincoln, and two blocks from la Carretera Duarte (John F. Kennedy).

We watched the "moon landing and moon walk live on TV". I believe it was either on Canal 4 - (La Voz Dominicana) Radio Television Dominicana, or maybe it was from abroad since we had a powerful antenna and could recieve TV signals to watch channels from P.R., and other countries abroad. What a mindblowing experience it was. I still remember being told to be quiet and watch. I couldn't help but exclaim: Wow, que chuleria! on and on...
"One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind".

How much time has lapsed? It's hard to believe it's been 40 years!

At the same time I remember another event of 1969. It is very important for DR, and our influence in the international music scene. It was the year that Rafael Solano received an award for his famous song: Por Amor.

That's where I was at.

Where were you?

Share your thoughts if you can remember.

Gardel's Tango said: "20 años no son nada"; Y cuarenta que son? Dimelo, please?

RE: Where were you on July 20, 1969?
40 years ago; 1969.

That year was a bad year in NYC since crime had escalated due to a "panic" or shortage of Heroin. Crime shot through the roof since the dope fiends couldn't get their fix.

The year of WOODSTOCK; Just a few miles from Manhattan up the New York Thruway.

It was also an interesting year for music; That's when Love is Blue, by Paul Mauriat played non stop on the radio.

In 1969, Mauriat started his first world tour, visiting countries like United States, Canada, Japan, South Korea, Brazil and other Latin American countries.

Now as far as our people were concerned; Juan Marichal of the San Francisco Giants:

Juan Marichal appeared in 38 Major League games during the 1969 regular season. ...

Did you know that Juan Marichal appeared in 18 games at home, had 50 at-bats, drove in 0 runs, scored 2 times, had 6 hits (1 doubles / 0 triples / 0 home runs), walked 3 times (0 intentional), struck out 9 times, was hit by a pitcher 0 times, sacrificed 0 times (0 hits & 0 flies), stole 5 bases, was caught stealing 4 times, ground into 5 double plays, and finished at home with a .12 batting average, .169 on base percentage and .14 slugging average?

On the road, Juan Marichal appeared in 20 games, had 59 at-bats, drove in 3 runs, scored 1 times, had 9 hits (0 doubles / 1 triples / 0 home runs), walked 1 times (0 intentional), struck out 13 times, was hit by a pitcher 0 times, sacrificed 4 times (3 hits & 1 flies), stole 5 bases, was caught stealing 4 times, ground into 5 double plays, and finished at home with a .152 batting average, .163 on base percentage and .186 slugging average?
