"you could not have made a better post to prove the sillyness of your arguments and make me understand there is no real need for me to argue with you !" There is no reason for you to comment or argue on ANYTHING concerning Dominican society for you have no platform from which to make a point from. You're not arguing with me. That would mean you and I are equals, which we are not. I'm simply amusing myself with a foreigner who gets his rocks off in DR every now and then who now considers him an expert in said society as a result. |

Quote: dreadlocks previously said: consuello, i have spent time in many caribbean territories, and jamaica happens to be one of them. i have no idea if you have first hand experience with the country, but i can tell you that from what i saw of the culture, there is no parallel there with what happened in this case. in the DR, all kinds of foreigners from Europe and North America come to this country and set up themselves as overlords. they open up businesses and hire their compatriots, excluding the locals, to a large degree. they strut around with airs of superiority , and Dominicans aggravate the condition by giving them free reign to behave any way they feel. the ex British colonies, such as jamaica, are a different story. there are no guys like this Italian hotel manager throwing weight around. they have to walk a fine line, because jamaicans, guys from trinidad, guys from guyana and st croix, do not suffer fools gladly. i remember one night i was in a bar on the north coast when some drunken German came in and started terrorising locals. one dominican told me that the guy´s name was Deiter, and he was a real ´¨tough guy¨. i pointed out to him that in trini, st croix, jamaica, et al, there are no tough german guys called Deiter. the only tough guys are the ones who were born in the country. foreigners who act tough get tenderised in very short order!! I must agree with you in most of what you have said about the differences in comparison you have just made my friend that I have never heard of such tragic news directly from Jamaica as this in DR. Granted, I was only stressing the fact that underdeveloped Countries seem to have the tendency to sell out their moral and conscience for money to foreigners, especially white ones thus mainly many Europeans and North Americans. Something DR is known for which is (If I must say without emotion and respectfully) sucking up to people of white skins and you see it since the moment you land at the Airport as you can see the treatment they give the whites and that of the black tourists in DR. In fact I can refer you to a Dominican movie called SANKY PANKY to see a slight excerpt of what I am trying to show you. I have been to Jamaica and I know most foreigners really do not have the upper hand in some communities there, but only the high investors do though. It is true that the tourists and most foreigners knows better to act up because already some of their behaviors at times get criticized by the Jamaican population so they lay low and know not to frequent some areas in Jamaica. Valid point dear friend. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Quote: Cetou previously said: I have been several time to the DR and have spent some times at this Hotel. I m really surprise to hear this story as my stays have always been extremely pleasant, and i always found management to be extremely professional and courteous. therefore i tend to look at this story with a bit of hesitation and try not to be 1 sided. After a little googling around, I find out that the wedding party consists of wealthy people (kids of wealthy people). More or less connected to hollywood night life. so i can imagine the kind of mentality they have. Loads of easy money and the attitude that goe with it. Therefore I would like to suggest everyone to stay a bit calm and not to judge too fast. Like I said, having been in the hotel (and having recommanded that place to others) I m extremely reserved about how really all those events happened. they re would be no excuse for anyone to hit a woman (being pregnant or not). And if that s the case, i would be the first one to be openly condemning it. but i do find a bit fishy how well organised this whole bashin campaign is turning out. it all sounds so well prepared by a well paid lawyer !! And how odd someone so rich would want to think the best solution now is to ask for 50 million dollars !!! I m also very unconfortable about the way Mr Lazard condescandantly speaks about DR. (the good US citizen giving lessons to the poor DR crooks). And for what I know, most management at this hotel happen to be europeans... Let s see in the long term what really comes out of this. But let s not be judging when we only have 1 side of the story !!! so far, i would still recommand this marvelous hotel to anyone, adn still think DRs are great and welcoming people ! Mr Lazard has done no such thing to demonize DR. I do not know where you get that idea that he has. When I make my criticism I do not blame the land but the people and those who act in certain way they do. I still love the Island, both sides since I am both. It is engraving and agitating when I read post like this from bastard European White foreigners like you who has no idea what we are about as Hispaniolan/ Hispanolanos. You Europeans started and establish this division and expect for little Countries to treat you all like kings and because in your hearts you know you all have this sense of supremacy and presume yourselves superior to any race and countries of colored people. You European descent hypocrite... You Barbaric European France, Spain, Portugal, Great Britain and now the USA are the source of the World inherited differences and divisions. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

The swiss guy is the only rational person in this forum. You have only read a story of a nobody and you believe him for granted without asking yourself any question. Is it really possible that the manager of a 5 star hotel, the best in the DR would hit a pregnant woman and ruin his career only because she called him a thief? You really must be very young or inexperienced. I have heard of a lot of stories where people go to hotels and fake to fall on slippery floors only to sue the hotel and get money out of it. Haven't you? Now if one of this people would post this type of story blaming the house keeping of the hotel that leaves wet floors and the inadequate management what would you do? blame the Dominican education system because they dont form hotel staff the way they are supposed to ? I am not saying that this story cannot be true but please before judging give credit to both parts and do not assume that who is writing is right 100%. But first of all, do not generalize and give such a bad publicity to the country you belong too... if you still care a little bit for Republica Dominicana give it some credit |

I am building a church and school for the poor in the neighborhood of El Javier. The people who run the hotel are friends with the governor who takes bribes to keep toxic electrical plants open and the poor children are dying from lung diseases. Maybe you should find God and then see whether in fact you are any better than the greedy selfish hotel scum that I exposed. --Justin Lazard ps. The New York Post (www.nypost.com) page 6 seems to agree with me and the hotel has refused to return calls or comment. |

As I am from DR, work in the tourism business and I happen to know various people in the area of Puerto Plata, I have done a couple of phone calls this morning to see what people say about this situation. You will be surprised!!! I dont know personally the manager of that hotel but I know some executives that work in other hotels in the same area of Playa Dorada. Just to make sure I called 2 of them in different hotels. Well their version of the story is completely different from what JFORCE has been telling us. First of all they say that he is a heavy drug addict, very well known in the area even if he has been there only for a couple of months, Some of them said that he became famous because during the wedding he has been seen several times wondering semi naked waiting for God to give him answers... They also said that the day of the fight, he and his wife arrived at the hotel and in order to get attention he stole some stuff from the shop in the lobby, once again seminaked he started to shout in the middle of the lobby. When his wife (which even if she is pregnant seems to be as drug addict as he is) started to shout any kind of bad words against the managers because he didnt want to give them back any money (it looks like the service they where asking money back for, had been given, payed and signed for). At that point the manager told them that security would escort them out because they did not know how to behave, without any notice he received a punch right in the face and than a second one before security could block this man and escort him and his wife outside. They all declared that nobody from the hotel ever touched this lady and that there is around 20 people that can testify (some of which are the source of their information). Actually it looks like that when they where trying to escape because they had been told that the police was coming, in the attempt of manually opening the gate, she intentionally slammed it on one of the security hands. I almost forgot, it seems that they have been also sued by the hotel and personally by the manager for the same amount of money US$ 50 million. Interesting no! Let's see who will become millionaire, have you guys ever heard of such a big trial for such a small matter in the DR? I dont know this people and I dont care but what I did not like is that you guys believed in this story based on the fact that in DR things like this happen every day because Dominican people are weak and corrupted. I think we deserve more credit!!! WELL YOU SEE!! THERE IS ALWAYS ANOTHER SIDE OF THE COIN!! |
