On what forum did other posters teach you that a good way to interact is to post blocks of youtube videos unrelated to the topic of the thread? From what I see everything has to do with everything when it comes to government so my postings might seem irrational and unrelated to you, but the fact is it's all connected so why not just let that sink in to your head an simmer a little maybe you might get it someday |

They can't win another Cold War. Their army is a bunch of drunks and has horrible morale. Keep in mind, 12 Russian soldiers commit suicide every month. Russia is also losing it's population as they keep losing citizens every year. They also have many domestic problems with crime and health. During the old Cold War Stalin controlled every part of the Russian people's life, now, Russians have a lot more freedom which means less power for the state. Not only that but Russia also controlled many other countries like Poland, Estonia, etc. If Iran nukes USA and Israel which is what Russia is probably hoping for then you could see another Cold War but if that doesn't happen Russia is not in a position to start another Cold War. I'm not saying they won't try I am saying they won't win if they do. Edited on 12/17/2008 1:41 PM by DominicanAmerican. |

Russians, drunk or not drunk are fantasitc fighters. They held Stalingrad. I have witnessed Russions fighting, fearless, shrewd, motivated by honour and love of motherland. The are now ready to liberate Sount America, Georgia and other countries. Ties are being established with Cuban and Venez liberators. Here in the DR we will be welcoming increased Russian Tourism and investment. The good news over the last year is that Russian security patrols have restarted over the Atlantic. By the way, I tried to post some Russian on this site but it does not support the alphabet. With the big marketing chance maybe the site organisers could remedy this. S. However, don't forget to mention how the Nazis would run to the Americans so they wouldn't be tortured by the Russians. Or how Russia committed mass rape of German and other occupied Europe countries' women during WW2. Also, don't forget to mention the recent trouble Russia had subduing the violence in Chechnya, a province of barely 600,000. Motivated by honor? More like motivated by the fact they'd be tortured by Stalin, a guy responsible for more deaths than Hitler, if they didn't fight to the death. Although I do agree that keeping their family out of concentration camps was a huge motivator, obviously. I think it's sad all the problems facing Cuba and Venezuela. In Venezuela crime is rampant, murders rarely get solved and the people are poor. Drug flights (including drug flights to the DR) have increased remarkably since Chavez has been in power. Cuba is still facing many problems due to economic sanctions by United States. They are one of the few Communist countries still alive. Che's dream of a revolution to take down the USA was a failure. Castro revolution hasn't solved Cuba's problems. Even Che realized Russia was not the way. I think DR needs to continue to work with the USA. Don't side with Russia and her allies (Syria, Iran, Venezuela. All with immoral leaders), that would be a huge mistake. If there is another Cold War USA and our allies will defeat Russia. I urge you to study Russia's history, from Ivan the terrible to Putin. You will see Russia is a very dangerous country to trust. Edited on 12/17/2008 8:33 PM by DominicanAmerican. |

And yes, it was an age of tyrants. But no-one at the time expected Russia to do so well against Hitler on the Easten Front. And the defeat in the East made possible the early liberation of Europe. Yes, like many armies guerrilla war has presented many challenges of the Russians. According to a friend I know it was only British experience in Indonesia and the lessons learnt there made possible the developements of tactics than gave Brisish success in N. Ireland and elsewhere, sometimes it is trure part of UN or Nato forces. Tito managed to lift his country out the abyss by courting all counries and staying non-aligned. Also heavily armed, for a small country. Iceland fought the British over cod and natural resources. I suspect for many smaller nations this may be the best policy, either as single nations or groups. On the World stage the G20 is now flexing muscles, I think for the benefit of their populations. Europe is becoming increasingly important also compared with the immediate post-war period. Russia and Venez can supply oil, a stratigic necessity, whereas the US can't. As regards Russian history Russia was an ally of the UK before US. US and FDR did not enter the war till Perl Harbour. Actually some historians say that UK/Us were the poor allies in not meeting Stalins demand for a second front and letting Russia stand the brunt of the war. The Russians could claim that Yalta agreements etc. were broken by the other allies, UK, USA likewise. In postwar Europe it was the USSR who proved to be a good friend of France etc. in opposing the Truman doctrine tha in the end caused the terrible suffering in Vietnam. S.
