This time he's whinning about the censuring he's about to receive from Congress. What does he expect? Rangel has been in office for 40 (seems more like 400) years, and has failled to pay taxes for 17 years on real estate property he owns in DR. And he expects not to be penalized for this? Try not to report your assests for a few years, and you'll see what it will get you. Yet, this Harlem favorite son of a gun expects preferential treatment because he's special. You know he's a good-fellow from UCLA, University Corner of Lexington Avenue. What gall? What audacity? The first time I saw Charles Rangel was in 1990 near the toll plaza on the Triboro Bridge, as I headed to the Bronx from Manhattan; Rangel was driving - I believe a brand-new Cadillac, wearing a suit and tie, as I caught a glimpse of his bourgeoisie - better than thou- self on the opposite side of the bridge. He gave me a cold stare, and I noticed the hairdo and the mug, then realized it was Rangel the politician from the City. As I prepared to pay my toll, and drove towards the toll booth in my 1990 Ford Mustang 5.0, I lost sight of the con-gressman who drove away in the opposite direction. I was not impressed. However, I was impressed by Herman Badillo when he visited my High School back in '72; He was not as conceited as this other legend in his own mind politician... Back to the present: Rangel is complaining of the slap on the wrist he will get. Or, will it really be a pat on the back? They claim it's the first time they've censured someone in Congress in 30 years. Here's the hypocrisy, Rangel is facing censure for 11 counts of so-called improprieties. Note he was the chairman of the House Ways and Means Committe. How can anyone heading an approppriations body (which approves or denies expenditures for the Congress of the U.S.), if he lacks ethics in his own affairs? This is mindboggling and defies all logic. Who can ask for anything less than a censure. For goodness sakes the man is 80 years old and he still wants to continue on the govenment merry-go-round. Here's the kicker Congressman Tom Delay was found guilty of corruption and is facing doing hard time. Yet, Goodtime Charley is getting off with a wink and a nod, and he's not satisfied. I wonder if his favorite cologne is "Egoiste"?' Your'e so vain, you probably think this song is about you... Arsenio.
