It depends on the individual I know Puerto Rocks who love us and then I know some who think we try to be them smh. In Philly they use to hate on us but here in Augusta Costa Ricans PRs and Drs kinda side against Mex and Salvadorenos. As far as politics..... go figure

@CeJota - Its the exact same thing in Atlanta. Dominicans, Cubans and Puerto Ricans (and a few Panamanians) all kinda group up into one big unspoken conglomerate. Whereas Mexicans are kinda of a group unto themselves.

---

I have never heard or witness any direct contention from Puerto Ricans against Dominicans. I would imagine that IN Puerto Rico and IN the Dominican Republic things are different. But in the States things generally change because minorities are VERY QUICKLY grouped and categorized as the Bourgeoisie dictate, so it simply becomes more of a priority to tackle the bigger problems affecting ALL minorities than to perpetuate any more specific 'battles' that are more exclusive to certain groups - Dominicans vs Puerto Ricans, Japanese vs Chinese etc. Hay un dicho, "Bigger fish to fry".

I'm Puerto Rican and the question Are puerto ricans enemies or friends, I feel, is an unfair question. Certain individuals, yes, are closed minded and ignorant..But it isnt right to judge a whole race because those uneducated individuals that are of all nationalities and races. Whether your black, white, Chinese, Japanese, Boricua, Cuban, Dominican, etc. At the end of the day, we're all God's children. And btw..there is competition between all us latinos, but don't just pinpoint us..

Tamara, in spite of whether or not it is a fair question, I think over all, if you read the posts, with just a few exceptions, most gave a high rating to our PR brothers and sisters. We have an undisputable affinity, certainly more positive feeling and minimal negativity. But then again is that not true for most of human interactions regardless of nationality? I don't think anyone really made a judgement call here, only opinions based on personal experiences each one of us has had while interacting with Boricuas. An opinion is only that and you can take it and interpret it for what it is worth.

Nevertheless, just to give you one example, Mirabal4ever is a defender of Puerto Ricans. He cares very much about them and if you dare say anything negative, he will zealously come after you and fight in their defense. And that to his credit is a nice quality to have for some one who is from another nationality.

Well, the reason why some Dominicans "pinpoints" you Boricuas is because, there are many Dominican and Puerto Rican "connection" in the United States. So the rivalry is much stronger between the Dominicans and the Puerto Ricans. Although, now in 2011 the rivalry in the states is not like it used to be.. like for example in the early and late late 90s...

I get along with the Puerto Ricans, they are one of the few Latin Americans that i personally like. I also like how you Boricuas have contributed a lot to Reggaeton music
