Is the DR ready for the technological boom? I was thinking of taking a degree in IT -more specifically Information Systems Management- with me to the DR. I don't see many opportunities developing (at the moment). Am I wrong? Does anyone have any information? I know the DR is a leader in telecommunications in the Caribbean... but what is the status of the IT field? I would try for maths or engineering degree first . I left IT 4 years ago and still am in demand. Maths and engineering based computing contracts can be done remotely and currently friends are getting 100 US per hour. They work in Southern Europe as I did for clients in N. America and elsewhere. There is huge demand. Sometimes they never even meet the client. S. |

Which Engineering or Math degree are you referring to here. I'm taking media design but i was told to better switch into CAD drafting for engineering firm as a freelance type of work which can be done remotely which also Media Design can also be done remotely too. One of the reason I'm moving away from Programming is because is not so easy to be able to work remotely and it requires the presence at the office type of things. Not a bad idea to look at leading unviersities offferings and if you can't make the grade choose courses that amount to the same.
