But regardless of that, it might still be the perfect opportunity for you to enter a ground floor business venture before anyone else. However with everything in its nascent stages, there are drawbacks and you might be swimming against the current that will make it that much harder. Nevertheless, as a pioneer in any industry, when and if successful, the rewards are usually the greatest and no doubt will be well remunerated for being the first to take the risk. Hopefully, the compensation will happen before everyone else catches on and jumps on the band wagon. Unfortunately, vice versa can also be true. It can be financially devastating and can wipe you out completely if things dont work out as projected. But in spite of it all, if you have a strong enough will and desire to introduce Indian cuisine to Dominican palates, I would most definitely give it a try. Santo Domingo is fast becoming a cosmopolitan city, offering a wide range of international, but more mainstream food choices and your timing might be perfect for you to offer something new to the market. However, my only suggestion is to most definitely perform some kind of market study, test the product on a small scale before going all out and acquaint the Domiinican public to a food not common to our culture. One last point, I forgot to mention on my last post. Perhaps you should initially focus and target your market on tourists who come to the DR for a visit are already familiar with indian cuisine instead of the native market. And if you want a share of the Dominican market, it will likely be an upscale population who will consider the food exotic, something different to try on a night out. |
