RE: Business Opportunities
I agree. Most of the suggestions can be adapted to suit a wide variety of business situations with a little imagination. The only point which made me stop was the final one "Take advantage of your customer" Perhaps it was not meant in the way it appears but customers who feel they have been taken advantage of are unlikely to continue to be customers. A good business builds its customer base on dealing fairly with it's clients so that they continue to do business together and obtain recommendations and referrals to new clients.

Just my perspective of good business.

RE: Business Opportunities
I would also like to believe that what was meant by take advantage of your customer was more along the lines of taking advantage of your customer base. Earning referral business, back end sales, upgrading existing goods and/or services.

In my line if business, all through my life, the vast majority of my business is from an existing customer base (God Bless my Database). Either they come back for repeat business, or they send me new customers who will themselves come back for more business and refer more new customers, who will themselves come back for more business and refer more customers, (I am sure you get the idea here).

Of course none of that happens if you provide poor service or (YIKES) don't keep in contact with your client base and ASK for that business or referral.

So, I am going to go with the OP meaning to UTILIZE your customer.

RE: Business Opportunities
yes , Mr Pabon, but repeat business is entirely a function of customer service (in a competitive ecosystem). the DR suffers from a horrendous record of poor business practises, basically because business has always been monopolistic. if people had to fight for a customer base, this might be different. the failure of major chains like Plaza Lama to honor warranties and returns, the failure of public transportation to provide comfortable ambience, and the misrepresentation of product quaity are some of the issues which come to mind. because of the absence of strict consumer protection laws, manufacturers of reconstituted orange drinks label them "100% orange juice", without fear of civil action from a body similar to the Consumer Protection Departments familiar in the USA. similarly, colmado owners use scales which are 3 or more ounces out of whack, shorting purchasers on the quantity intended. servive providers like the electric and cable providers give whatever the think is good enough, which, more often than not, is woeful. consumer loyalty is not a matter of choice here; it is because you do not have a wide field to select from.

RE: Business Opportunities
Hi there!
Most of you people are somewhat correct.
However, most business schools spend too much time on academics.
Most governments have no idea about anything.
The real world is a tough go.
I have been in business 49 years now.
Grade 10 education in Canada.
Learned a lot from the school of hard knocks.
Totally legal.
Treat your customers like human beings.
Easy, not really, but the rewards are great.
The DR is ripe for any young person that is willing to work hard.
At anything he or she likes.
The casa on the hill is waiting.
Oh yeah, keep out of the governments way.
Most of them are out of touch with reality.
Have a wonderful life!

having detected the reality that his non stop Obamathon has long since become tiresome, the cockroach of cabarete is recycling old, forgotten issues (much like himself) . sorry, willie; nobody takes you seriously. you are just a tired old cut and paste artist, with no discovery of your own. i will find you useful when you start a thread, and offer some sort of meaningful analysis, rather than regurgitating something you heard on Fox news. arsenic is not that expensive these days; go get yourself a bottle, or two. some say it mixes quite interestingly with triple sec and a twist of lemon. try it, and get back to me.

Actually, we are on the Serpent River First Nation. About 400 km south of Moosonee, if you really know where that is.

I spent a week in Mossonee with my native friends - polar bear express - nice trip!
