Dominican authorities dismantle group selling sexual tourism online

Santo Domingo, Jun 3, 2009 (EFE via COMTEX) -- Dominican authorities announced Wednesday that they dismantled a band headed by a U.S. citizen that sold sexual tourism services on the Internet to the detriment of this country's hotels.

The band, which operated in the eastern tourist town of Bavaro, offered lodging in hotels and "high quality companionship," without the consent of the hotel authorities, "causing damage to their image and reputation, as well as negative comments from potential customers" of those hotels, the police said in a communique.

Police said that U.S. citizen Marcos Antonio Uribe headed the band and operated a leisure and prostitution center in Bavaro.

Along with Uribe, police arrested Dominicans Gilberto Montero Montero and Emmanuel Santana Rodriguez, as well as four women who provided the "companionship" services to foreigners who were contacted via the Internet.

Police said they seized from the arrested people two pistols, an all-terrain vehicle, mobile telephones and cash. EFE mf/bp

Not only that, but they also should be hanged, castrated, quartered and have their parts sent as "gifts" to their countries of origin. That should be enough to send the message across that we might be friendly, but that we'll not tolerate the vermin from other countries to dishonor our soil and youth.

My feelings are that all foreigners should be measured by the same yardstick, so as to avoid the malicious murmurs stating that we only have it against the haitians. It should get the message across that we won't tolerate felonies from anyone notwithstanding their country of origin.
