About "le robaron la pelea a Martinez!!!"......not so fast..........althought he fought a pretty good fight, I thought he lost by two points 113-115.......I would've been happy with a draw, but still, I hink he lost by two points. Not bad for a guy who most people thought was going to lose easily. I tell you what, if he had a knockout punch, Williams would still be on the canvas. He didn't respet Williams power, fought inside, fought from the outside and gave Williams all he could handle. TRUST me, his stock went waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay up while Williams' went down. Well, I guess I was kind of saying the same thing... bcs that score off 119 was way way off..... Martinez gave an impressive showing... moreso considering the height advantage of Williams |

We already knew about his trouble with lefty fighters. It was a tough fight, a candidate for fight of the year, and very close. The judge who scored 119 should never be allowed to judge a fight again . In a year full of odd decisions in both boxing and MMA that one has got to be the worst. As soon as I heard 119 I rolled my eyes and knew Williams got the win. It was not a robbery, however that scorecard is absolutely wrong and indefensible. Not sure why anyone is still talking about Pavlik. Pavlik dodged Paul Williams in the most transparent manner, to fight a bum just weeks later. Hopkins ruined Pavlik in every way (physically, mentally) and he will have to prove otherwise before I say anything good about him again. |

These fights really help to promote the game. Williams has trouble with lefties and this fight was no different. He will still be the most avoided boxer in the sport and now Martinez can expect to be avoided just the same. |
