RE: Cotto vs. Clottey
absolutely i agree. i will have to admit that i thought that hatton had a slight edge over pacquiao but i admit also that it was foolish for me to even think such foolishness. my problem was that i overanalized the fight and after looking at the opponents that hatton faced lets check it out. juan urango whenever he went to the body against hatton he couldnt take it well. paulie mallinaggi who couldnt punch his way out of a funda. luis collazo who i thought got robbed against hatton in which hatton was out on his feet in the twelvth round. floyd made a comment in an interview and that was i dont fight for the glory i fight for the money. now do you think ali fought for the money or roberto duran for that matter. all the boxing greats fought for the glory and pacquiao and cotto show that example beyond.

I thought Collazo beat Hatton as well. Collazo, another guy who proves how deep 147lbs division is ... he is like #7 or #8 but in many eras would be top 3.

This is a crazy era you can name like 15 guys in welterweight that can make for great title challenges.

I am a HUUUUUGE fan of moxed martial arts and UFC...but my first sports love remains boxing. Here is a hilarious video of the former UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia against OLD OLD OLD Ray Mercer, a top tier boxing heavyweight from the mid-90s, under MMA rules.

I know Tim Sylvia is a bad joke and not representative of the many fine gladiators of MMA, but at the same time Mercer is an old man...so it shows MMA has a lot of development to go. Men with weak chins rarely make it to the pinnacle of boxing.

i understand where you are coming from totally i think the boxing ability with mma fighters is lacking as far as skills is concerned. i do believe thhey have come a long way. at the same time weak chins may be the case but their is hardly any padding in the on the gloves in mma. their is just enough to prevent the hand from breaking. it is pretty much like getting hit bare knuckle. i believe the padding is only 4 ounce

I like to watch mixed martial arts every now and then but BOOOOOOOOOOOXING, man, that's a sport I love with a passion.

Have been a huge fan since I was about 6 years old.

Started recording important fights the second VCR's were invented and I am the proud owner of about 4-5,000 fights.......all recorded without commercials.

And since VCR's are almost "dinosaurs", I am in the process of transferring those fights into DVD's, slowly but surely.

You name ANY important fight, there's a BIG chance I have it.

Tup a warning ... I had once a fine collection downloaded from torrent websites over many years, approaching 80 gigs of the finest fights 1990-2000s and older classics. I never backed it up and lost it all. a terrible blow. so as you digitize your collection take all necessary precautions!

That said I may take you up on your offer if you have a secure way to trade a few files. I'll just need a few obscure fights to start my collection, because on the torrent sites they tend to be nazis about bringing something to the table before you can dload.

RE: DT.com Boxing Lounge: Klitschko vs. Chagaev
Saturday afternoon we have a world heavyweight "title fight" so uninspiring it is on ESPN CLassic.

Wladimir Klitschko vs . Ruslan Chagaev. Supposedly this crowns the true lineal hw champion

Well admit it .. when you firt saw Wladimir Klitschko fight you couldn't believe it. ... a huge man with impressive speed and fluidity. But unfortunately this is one of those cases in boxin where a glass jaw still makes it to the top. Don't know much about Chagaev but if he is anything like the last challenger from eastern Europe (Ibragimov) it will not be much of a show.
