Btw, all those Heavyweight you mentioned, in their prime, would've eaten Wladimir for breakast and Vitali for dinner!.

would that have been on the same day?
Without a shadow of a doubt.

Take Riddick Bowe......if we trained properly, wasn't so fucking lazy and came to fight prepared, in my opinion, he could've been much better, yes and I dare say it, much better than Ali.

He would've beaten Wladimir and BEFORE getting out of the ring, could've have beaten Vitali.

That's how talented he was.

The talent was there, but his priorities were all over the place.

agreed, Tupapaupa. but, just look how erratic and inexplicable his private life was after he left the ring. and please, be nice with your reply, but i happen to think that Mark Breland was one of the most overhyped, overrated boxers of the modern era.

Thanks for the vid yumnuk!

Lennox Lewis ... avenged his losses and defeated every man he faced. Devin no more needs to be said. In this weak era the people can only dream of having Lennox back after underrating him. Also let it be said that when he fought Vitali, the superior Klitschko, he broke his face open.

Ok, so he won the rematch agains McCall and "The Rock".....and he was good, don't get me wong, but Lenox wouldn't last 5 rounds of alot of the Heavyweights from the 60's, 70's and 80's.

Not taking anything away from him but I don't think he would have gone the distance with Larry Holmes or even Ken Norton, in their primes.

I am a little biased when it comes to Breland because we attended the same High School and graduated the same year.

Went to alot of his trainings and a few of his fights....for free, of course. JAJAJA.

But because I am a boxing fan before anything else, let me tell you my opinion of Breland:

He had alot of talent but used to fight "small".......let me explain:

In most of his fights, he was the taller man but instead of taking advantage of that and just wait for the smaller opponent to come to him so he could land the left jab and then a straight right hand, he used to lower his head and shoulders and make himself the same size/height as his opponent.

If you ever want to see what I am talking about, try watching the rerun of his fight with Marlon Starling, which he lost.

Btw, he is doing very well....traning boxers and "doing great"

Despite all that like I said today I can only dream of a Lennox on today's scene. The top boxing channel canceled the "champ" against an alleged top contender, but they were hyped to air Wladimir against the cruiserweight champion Haye. This is how deep the rot is in heavyweight division at this point; we're all far more excited to watch a smaller man come up and try to put these giants down.

Shane needs to fight either Mayweather or Cotto. Bypassing either to fight Clottey is not only a cop out, but might end up being a costly mistake for Shane.
I'm sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of how awesome I am.

Devin:

I too compiled all of Ali's fights on DVd as a gift for my old man !! He is huge ali fan.... he even took me once to meet him in ny at a korvettes store..... in my compilation I found Ali in a Arsenio Hall show and he was asked who had hit him the hardest and he answered Ernie Shavers!! i was thinking more along the lines of Foreman !!

also, after seeing clottey fight Cotto, I would bet on Clottey over Shane,,,,

"Fight Cotto"......for what?.......Cotto already beat him.

Mayweather would have Shane for dessert.

... sounds like we are all in agreement that all roads lead to defeat for the old vet and welterweight champion Mosley. Anyone care to disagree?

I had a great time watching Mosley demolish the cockroach Margarito, but Mosley is a paper champ waiting to be taken by anyone in the op 5, including Clottey. Cotto has a win over Mosley, he has the best resume in the division, and just edged by the man Shane is rumored to be chasing. And on the sidelines is Mayweather, who Shane already ducked after the Vargas fight by claiming 'his teeth hurt'.

Dr. Dread,
Please let me interject my thoughts on my close personal friend Mark Breland. He was a 5 time NY/Daily News Champion. Olympic Gold Medalist and two time Welterweight Champion. When he came out of the Bed Stuy Boxing Association the expectations placed on his professional career were cyclopean. He had an amateur career record of 110-1 with over 70 stoppages in those bouts. He was probably the greatest amateur fighter of all time without exception to Teofilo Stevenson or Felix Savon. When it comes to humility and decency, he is still a reigning champ. Not bad for a kid from the Tompkins Street Projects.

P.S. You almost have to fight him for the dinner tab.

Tupap,
I met and spoke to Mr. Bowe at a PAL event after he had become a World Champion. He told me that the hardest thing in the world was to get up at 5 a.m. to do road work with 10 million dollars in the bank. I found that to be a most poignant statement indeed.
