Francisco Alberto Caamaño Deño, perhaps the bravest dominican that this land have ever given birth to. If we had only ten people like him, we would be ruling the world right now.

I know, he wasn't a sports/entertainment man, but heck, a conversation about dominican legends (of any kind) can't be started without speaking abou him, IMHO.

RE: Dominican Legends : Past & Future
Lautaro, the problem are the political implications.
There are two “Franciscos” in our history (two “Francisco Alberto Caamaño Deño”) as has happened with some others Dominican important characters: the one from 1965 (“perhaps the bravest Dominican that this land has ever given birth to”) and the one from 1973 (the not so good guerrilla’s leader and the not so good politician either).
It was very intelligent of the people who opened this thread to let politics outside.
By the way he was actually a great man.

Well, if someone would take things into perspective, one can't help but conclude that politics on the DR are BOTH a sport and a thing of entertainment (getting to the point of comedy at times).

Illio Cappocci
Jacques Viau
André Riverde
(I believe that is the correct spelling, I will check later).
They were not Dominicans and they made our best causes their own causes too and they died fighting for those causes.
