There most certainly are no websites that teach Dominican spanish ..what a higgledy piggledy version of spanish is spoken here but it makes me laugh with Ahorita being my favourite word ..typifies everything here nicely

You sir are wrong. Here is Dominican Spanish website. Enjoy

http://www.colonialzone-dr.com/language4.html

Hey! This is pretty neat! I will share it with some relatives and in-laws that are trying to learn the language...

From what I can tell, it is pretty accurate and complete. here are some of my favorites:

Ahorita -- Soon, later, maybe never
Bakebo -basketball
Esprie - Sprite
Guapo - mad
Kachu - ketchup

and number 1 favorite

polo che - polo shirt

God help us!

Isn't that the truth. many dominicans sure do not know how to talk. i have to admit

Depends on what you mean. I don't view it as us speaking wrong, it's just speaking how we speak. Beats the hell out of Castillian.

That website is great, though. La gringa mia can learn how to talk like us finally. I've been trying to find something like this as she ONLY wants to learn to speak Dominicano/Cibaeno as opposed to a general Latin American or Castillian course.

Thank you Gringo_1!

It's true and that's probably the more embarrassing part.

I promised her learning Cibaeno will be easier than learning Castillian. I pray I'm right as she's timid about speaking.

pronunciation should be easier because the lisp is hard to use if you were not born using it. using i in the middle of the words would be easier for her than using a lisp! i would encourage her to speak properly and be more liberal with the letter s than most people just due to the fact that it sounds sexier. leave the dropped letters to the men. pastelito for her and patelito for us

That's true. But the lisp isn't even a must as the Castillian they teach in American schools doesn't encourage the lisp. But the rules are a lot more laxed for Dominican spanish.

at that last part. You have a point, it does sound better if women speak better than us.

She does hang around it's just we speak too damn fast and too much slang. She follows it a lot of times it's just the bridge between following and talking is hard.

It depends on what German you're hearing. Low German (upper Germany) is very abrasive sounding in the way people assume German is. But High German (lower Germany and Austria) it almost sounds like a Romance Language, I shit you not. I was so surprised during my stay there. I practically fell in love with the language.
