TuPapaupa's Boxing Corner: RESULT: Berto vs Zaveck.............
On this thread you will find out about upcoming fights and results.........plus members opinions on them.

That said: LET'S GET READY TO RUMBLEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!.

Last night (Saturday), on HBO:

Paul Williams (37-1-27) vs Sergio Martinez (44-1-24), Middleweights.......and:

Chris Arreola (27-1-24) vs Brian Minto (34-2-21), Heavyweights.

Chris Arreola took care of tomato can Minto in the 4th round.

Although Martinez gave Williams all he could handle, the judges gave the fight to WIlliams......

Without a doubt, the Argentinian's stock went up while Williams' went down..........very exciting fight.

just imagine what kelly pavlik would have done to williams if they would have fought. pavliik whom i believe hits way harder than martinez. williams stock went way down with me after his defeat to carlos quintana no matter how the outcome of the rematch. listen what has been happening to jermain taylor will soon happen to williams.

I think Williams main problem was that he was fighting a lefty..........I actually think he would do much better against Pavlik.....granted, if Pavlik doesn't land one of his bombs.

I also believe Williams is faaaaaaaaaaaaar from becoming a Jermain Taylor.

He kid has some talent, that's for sure.

Btw, I forgot to mention:

WHEN A FIGHT IS ON AND YOU GUYS CAN'T WATCH IT, FOR WHATEVER REASON, LET ME KNOW AND I'LL RECORD IT ON DVD AND SEND IT/THEM TO YOU, FREE OF CHARGE, OF COURSE.

he may do much better against pavlik but look at the hopkins fight and see how the style that hopkins fought was the correct style. the question is will williams like ronnie shields mentions fight a fight where he actually uses his reach an height. no way because the young lad only knows one way to fight and that is going foward an that will be his biggest downfall. just wait an see.

I am telling you, if Williams starts fighting "tall", not many out there will be able to beat him........the kid has the talent, the jab, the one two punch, etc.....all he needs is to fight "tall"......and not waste so many punches.

I may take you up on this Tup! I only come through this site ~once a week now so here are my comments from the older boxing lounge:

I don't think Williams stock goes down. We already knew about his trouble with lefty fighters. At my place all us fans knew Martinez was trouble even though he did not brig a famous name. It was a tough fight, a candidate for fight of the year, and very close. The judge who scored 119 should never be allowed to judge a fight again . In a year full of odd decisions in both boxing and MMA that one has got to be the worst. As soon as I heard 119 I rolled my eyes and knew Williams got the win. It was not a robbery, however that scorecard is absolutely wrong and indefensible. "Judge" Pierre Benoist remember that name and if he is a judge on a fight you are watching you know what is up.

Not sure why anyone is still talking about Pavlik. Pavlik dodged Paul Williams in the most transparent manner, to fight a bum just weeks later. It seems Hopkins ruined Pavlik in every way (physically, mentally) and he will have to prove otherwise before I say anything good about him again.

WOW ....FALL 2009 has been great for fights, almost every weekend has had a show. Next weekend my DVR recorder might blow up from too much action:

Klitschko v. Kevin Johnson HBC heavyweight title
Timothy Bradley -vs- Lamont Peterson
Juan Diaz -vs- Paul Malignaggi 2
Victor Ortiz vs. Antonio Diaz
Vic Darchinyan -vs- Tomas Rojas
++ UFC 107: Penn vs Sanchez lightweight title bout

I'm sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of how awesome I am.
