I really beleive it is controlled by the Catholic Church.. They will allow music that promotes sex and violence and all that bumping and grinding. They probably think they are saving their youth from drugs. Then again they allow their kids to by a fifth of whiskey and down it at a single sitting. Ass Backwards thinking and not allowing artistic expression. ROCK ON GARTH! -ROCK ON WAYNE! |

Hey there, DominicanForWhiteWomen. I think the heavy metal band issue in DR has to do more with a promotion/promoter issue like you said initially rather than Dominicans being open to other forms of music. I actually find many Dominicans over there to be pretty open and well informed with other types of music such as rock, heavy metal, techno/trance, etc., but I guess from the looks of it no one has made the effort to bring international heavy metal bands to the DR... at least not yet. I know that it's a completely different style of music, but I think that if world-renowned Euro techno/trance DJ's go to DR to do concerts and shows, I think it is only a matter of time before heavy metal acts are brought over to our island as well. I don't really follow the heavy metal genre (I'm more of a rock/alternative rock follower), but I think it would be pretty awesome if bands such as Iron Maiden, Metallica, or even Pantera we're brought to DR. |

How many radio stations play Metal? What are the CD on on-line sales of Metal Music in the DR? Are their any Dominican Metal Bands? Even T-shirt sales? |

Not saying it wouldn't go over well, but probably right the promotors would be taking a pretty big risk. |

Have you heard of Otep, Lamb of God, Straight line Stitch, Static X.... Those are more of the metal I'd like to promote or book. And what are the venues I can contact to do this if I do want to put a metal show together there? Would ya'll come out to see a metal show that are not so popular yet ? Touring bands that are trying to get there name out there? Or just Iron Maiden, Sabbath, or AC/DC? |
