I am also very happy that merengue tipico is more popular than other merengue "styles" out there, as it is the true merengue. By the way, Banda Real is off the hook! I love them!

I'm also very happy that the true merengue is the one "Que ta sonado mas".

In my opinion Banda real along with El prodigio are the best merengue groups out there.

Listing to this master peasce

La mejor voz Tipica es la de Vinicio Lopez.

Dont forget Banda Unik. Y Narcisco???

Tipico is getting the recognition that it deserves in Cibao. I just do not see Tipico going any further than R.D. I really have no issue with it honestly because as long as tipico lives i am happy. One thing i find interesting is that among non Cibaenos tipico is not popular. Since i have surrounded myself with Surenos i do not find many tipico fans.

They were times when it was less popular but Tipico has always receive recognition in the Cibao, is just that nowadays is much more popular. I think it has a good chance to become popular in other Latin American countries but like you I'm happy as long as it's popular in the Cibao and it adds to our uniqueness. For me is the opposite, I'm mostly surrounded by Cibaenos and they obviously Love Perico Ripiao.

Tipico to me is most heard in La Linea, Santiago, and Nagua. I have friends from Ocoa and they held a party and the majority of songs were merengue tipicos. My capitaleno friend also loves tipico. El tipico is loved by all Dominicans, as have been my experiences.
