One thing i find interesting is that among non Cibaenos tipico is not popular. Since i have surrounded myself with Surenos i do not find many tipico fans. They were times when it was less popular but Tipico has always receive recognition in the Cibao, is just that nowadays is much more popular. I think it has a good chance to become popular in other Latin American countries but like you I'm happy as long as it's popular in the Cibao and it adds to our uniqueness. I have friends from Ocoa and they held a party and the majority of songs were merengue tipicos. My capitaleno friend also loves tipico. El tipico is loved by all Dominicans, as have been my experiences. |
