May 27, 2012 - If you missed out on UFC 146's all-heavyweight pay-per-view, check out Junior dos Santos vs. Frank Mir fight highlights, courtesy of FOX Sports. UFC 146 took place May 26, 2012, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV. UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos (15-1) defended his title against Frank Mir (16-6) in the night's explosive main event. Catch the video highlights below. For more on dos Santos' first title defense, check out the play-by-play from MMA Fighting's Ben Fowlkes. Round 1: Herb Dean is our referee. He gives the instructions, and then it's go time. JDS bounces around from the outside with his lead hand far in front of him. Mir shoots almost immediately and grabs a single-leg, but JDS fights him off. Chants of ‘Cigano!' start up in the crowd. JDS gets the straight right going. Head kick by Mir misses. A ‘USA!' chant starts up for Mir. JDS begins picking away at Mir's midsection with jabs and rights. Mir steps in and lands, then eats a hook. One minute left in the round, and JDS slams a couple of right hooks to the body, followed by a jab that snaps Mir's head back. Good left by JDS and Mir glances up at the clock. A right by JDS puts Mir in trouble. JDS corners him against the fence and blazes away. Mir goes for a desperation takedown attempt that's not even close, and barely survives the round. MMA Fighting scores it 10-9 for dos Santos. Round 2: JDS lands a sharp lead right to start off the second. Mir paws forward and walks right into a left hook, then a right that sits him down. JDS lets him back up. Mir charges forward and tries to trap him against the fence, but complains of an eye-poke as JDS slips away. No stoppage. We'll fight on with Mir blinking and wincing. Mir attacks with leg kicks that JDS makes little effort to avoid. A right hand by JDS drops Mir. He rolls and tries to recover as the champ continues battering him. JDS steps away as Mir reaches for his leg and then tumbles over. That's all Dean needed to see, so he waves it off before JDS can resume the attack. Mir stays down. JDS stays champ. Nogueira was too stupid ( ego) to start a ground fighting against a big and strong guy like Mir. He shoud have finished him with his boxing, cause the guy was almost KO. Dos Santos never went to the ground against Mir and avoided any ground fighting : good strategy ! Now we're waiting for Junior Dos Santos vs Cain Velasquez => Fight should be awesome My Favorites MMAs Fighters : * George St Pierre (GSP) : A true Martial artist and a really good behaviour in and out the cage * Lyoto Machida : same as GSP * Jon Jones : A Genius ! and may be the future MMA legend => He raped Rampage but did not knocked him out, out of respect. The way he destroyed Maurice Rua aka Shogun is just embarassing, and Shogun is a killer * Anderton Silva : The Muhammad Ali of MMA !!! * José Aldo : Featherweight but the man is really talented Brazilians are among the top fighters of MMA ( Wanderlei Silva should retire though...) Love martial arts man ! Training since 13 years now ( Pencak Silat and Muay Thai ) Edited on 6/8/2012 9:58 AM by Nehesy. Tatico Henriquez es el mejor !!!! |

The 37-year-old Franklin used a stiff right jab and constant footwork to register a unanimous decision over a game, but outclassed Wanderlei Silva. All three judges scored the fight, 49-46, as did ESPN.com. Silva nearly seized victory in the second round when he dropped and almost finished Franklin with a hard overhand right. But beyond that point and a brief moment in the fifth, it was all Franklin, who admitted afterward he could not fully remember what happened after the second-round assault. "From the second round to the fifth, I don't remember what happened," Franklin said. "My corner told me it was the fifth round. I like fights like that. "When that kind of stuff happens, you remember bits and pieces. I was operating on autopilot for a while." Franklin was aware enough to lean on his jab and footwork to pepper Silva repeatedly. The performance displayed Franklin's continued growth as a fighter, and why his talk of making a serious run at the middleweight belt can't be dismissed. "I will talk to Dana (White), but the idea was to move back down to 185 and make another title run before I retire," said Franklin, who improved to 29-6 with one no contest. "I'm getting up there in years." Silva, who turns 36 in July, isn't talking retirement. And he shouldn't. Though he took many jabs and found it difficult to close the gap against Franklin, at no time in the contest was Silva counted out. His punching power was a significant factor in the fight. And near the end of the fifth round, Franklin got another scare. Silva pressed the action with less than a minute remaining in the bout and briefly hurt Franklin. But like in the second round, Silva couldn't finish the deal. He had neither enough time nor energy. "At the end of the second round, I thought I was going to knock him out but I wasn't able to," Silva said. "I pushed it a bit too much. "I wanted to knock him out." Silva falls to 34-12-1 with one no contest. http://espn.go.com/mma/story/_/id/8084235/rich-franklin-spoils-wanderlei-silva-homecoming i thought it was a decent fight, and franklin did a good job of being disciplined and using his jab effectively. ![]() |

Sonnen had been submitted during their 1st confrontation (Silva had a rib injury) , he was charged like an American beef ( fined and suspended) , still he punched like a sissy and he did not KO Silva. Personnally I think the knee was on the chest and legal , if not he would have mess up is face ( nose, mouth etc). Sonnen did not recover from that one though ( knee on the chest) Anderson Silva is a true martial arts MASTER ( Taekwondo, Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu..) period, at 37 yrs old he has been undefeated for 6 Yrs in UFC . And his last "defeat" was actually a disqualification against Yushin Okami which he destroyed easily few months ago in 2 rounds (TKO) The way he KO Vitor Belfort (who is a fierce striker) is just amazing.
