Notice of Race

INTERNATIONAL OPTIMIST REGATTA May 26th – 28th, 2012

Organizing Authority: The Organizing Authority of the regatta is the Asociación Dominicana de Optimist (ADO) and the regatta is hosted by the Club Náutico de Santo Domingo (CNSD).

Rules: The Racing Rules of Sailing 2009-2012, the prescriptions of the Federacion Dominicana de Vela & the I.O.D.A. Class Rules, will govern the Regatta, except where any of these are altered by the Notice of Race and the Sailing Instructions.

Open to all International Optimist sailors

General Information: Participants may enter by completing the Registration Form.

Entry Fees: US$ 50.00

Charter Boats: Complete Far East Optimist with Optiparts Spars, Foils, Dollys, etc: US$ 150. No sail included.

US$100 damaged deposit may be required

Skippers Meeting: Every Regatta days at 10:00 am by the Sailing Program Area.

No Skippers meeting programmed for Monday, May 28.

Schedule: Registration of competitors and support boats at Club Nautico de Santo Domingo, Friday, May 25, 2012 1300 – 1800
Dates of racing and scheduled time of warning signal:
Saturday, May 26 Warning Signal 1200
Sunday, May 27 Warning Signal 1200
Monday, May 28 Warning Signal 1100, no warning signal after 1400

Sailing Instructions: The sailing instructions will be available at registration.

Racing Area: The Races will take place in the Bahía de Andrés .

Scoring System: The low point Scoring System, Rule A2, will apply.

Twelve (12) races are scheduled.

The worst score will be excluded with the completion of six (6) races.
The next-worst score will be excluded with the completion of twelve (12) races.

Prizes: Class trophies will be awarded to the first 3 boats on each class, other awards may be given:

Optimist Overall - 1 through 5
Optimist White - 1 through 3
Optimist Blue - 1 through 3
Optimist Red - 1 through 3
Optimist Green - 1 through 5

Shore Facilities: All visiting boats will be accommodated by the sailing Program Area.
Disclaimer of Liability: Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See ISAF rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.

Accommodation: The Don Juan Beach Resort is a friendly hotel located very close to the venue, less than 5 minutes driving.
