by the way, anthonyc; i do not remember, but was it Marc Surer that drove the second Alfa? and, i still agree with the fan who was holding the sign that read "Gordon Murray is God".

If you were around at the epoch of beings like him, then you must remember Juan Manuel Fangio, isn't it so, dread? Although my all time favs are Senna and Prost. The day that Senna died was one of the saddest in my entire life.

RE: Any F1 fans?
yes, Mr Lautaro; i remember most of those guys. Senna was a master of the craft, but i have always been one to root for the guys who never really had the cars with which to win, but the talent to do so.as such, one of my all time favorites will always be Jumper Jarier, who showed in 1978 that he was one of the best around when he filled in for the late Ronnie Peterson in the North American races. he dusted off Mario Andretti and the rest of the field, at one time leading by over A MILE at the Glen. sadly , his bad luck intervened to do him in at both races. and, Manhattanite refers to braking; he would have loved to have seen the latest braker of them all, the aforementioned Vittorio Brambilla.

I believe it was Bruno Giacomeli.

I remember when Brambilla won the Austria GP is a driving rain storm. He was so overjoyed he raised his hands in victory..........Big Mistake in the rain. He spun the March 751 on the front straight damaging the front nose. He then drove his victory lap with pieces of Fiberglass flapping in the breeze.

Sadly Vittorio passed away a few years ago. He suffered a heart attack while mowing the lawn. An inglorious end to a great driver.

Lewis Hamilton has been stripped of all his race points from the Australian Grand Prix !!!
Looks like the start of another year of anti McLaren actions by the FIA

yes. anthonyc, you are indeed a fountain of knowledge in this area. it was in fact Bruno Giacomelli. and i remember when Vit wrecked the car with his exuberant display. were you at the glen when Helmoth Koenigg went through the armco and got decapitated? ah, the Brambilla boys, Ernesto, Vit, and Tino. those were men! by the way, whatever became of guys like Huub Rothengatter, Slim Borgudd, and the Dutch sensation, Boy Hayje? selling shoes, maybe?

Basically yes.
The better funded teams have major manufactures as owners or part owners.
Ferrari(Fiat), McLaren(Mercedes) BMW-Sauber, Renault and Toyota. These teams are marketing exercises as well as useful as technology demonstrators.

Teams make money from sponsorship, TV money and merchandising.
And yes there is that much money involved.

And well deserved.
He all but stopped and waved Trulli by after being told by his team over the radio to do so. When questioned by the FIA stewards he denied receiving and instructions by the team.
The tape of the radio communication proves he lied.

So basically McLaren was caught setting Trulli up for a disqualification then lying about it.

There will be another hearing soon where further penalties might possibly be acessed.
