Has it reached Emerging Market status yet? If not when do you think it will?

I don't think so. An emerging market consists basically of rapid growth, which I don't se happening in the DR. Exports are not powerfull enough, dependency on foreign currency and imports is too high, there are major problems with the economy and society and the actual cost of making business, including high taxes which are useless, and high electricity costs, makes the DR not an emerging market.

When I think it will become one? In my opinion if a big depression really hits the world hard (mainly, energy and food costs/shortages), there won't be a DR market to category as emerging....
