RE: THE STOCK MARKET: Who Is Into That?
Well AfroLatino if you would like to discuss investments we can surely do so. I invest in the USA since thats where I live on our stock exchanges like the NYSE NASDAQ AMEX CBOE etc.. I primarily invest in ETF's and certain company stocks with decent fundamentals, although in this market most fundamentals are haywire or not being used for decisions as well as before.

I am primarily an Options trader but use Options and Stocks in a combination for my investment strategies. I tend to buy international stocks for higher returns but the crisis has kind of offset that at least temporarily. BRIC nations stocks were red hot and will be once again. Same with other Emerging Markets but the higher risk isn't always warranted.

Let me know what type of strategies interest you and i'll see what we can discuss, I actually just came across this thread today for the first time as I hadn't been on DT for a few weeks.

Well, email me on here on private so we can talk investment and stocks my friend. Beside Belly whom had really put the concept of this thread to good use, many just simply want to engage in pointless unproductive bickerings as always.

NP, it is very important that you have a good knowledge base of financial instruments and understand their uses. For first timers many things can be confusing but I'll gladly lend a hand with anything you may not understand or need some assistance with. I was actually looking into DR's capital markets a few months ago and learned that we actually have one. It's small but is growing we just need more educated people to lead the way and inform others. It's called BVRD website is http://www.bolsard.com , they only have a few companies on there, and only sell corporate and government bonds at this moment in time. Those bonds have very nice yields so with a pretty good sum put into it you'll have a nice year after year return with relatively low risk.

Do you think there is a possibility for the stock market to grow with the paternalistic handling of businesses that characterize the majority of enterprises over here?

There is always potential for it to grow, because as a country, DR can grow and make advancements as well as any other nation. We are a talented people that can adapt and learn so yes even with the paternalistic system things can change. Anything that attracts capital and lots of it they will love. This is something that once the people in power realize the benefits to the country will make us an economic powerhouse. It takes a large burden away from the government and helps create efficiency in many areas. I could go on and on .

Yep, that's very important but more so for long term positions, if its short term trading for a quick buck may not be too necessary, mainly depends on your goals and strategies. Commodities eh? Those are a good place to be in long term with the way the dollar is going. Precious metals like gold, silver, and copper are one of the places where its good to be hehehe.

Yes, diversifiction india ( ifn ) up nearly 4 % today along with Russia. Companies in these cournties are expanding fast with low p/e. India pharma is in a no.1 position worldwide in exports to develoing contries. But like me , many people got out of property in spain, florida etc. and invested in DR. Developing nations are the place to be! DYODD but it seems S.To could jump 10% + in two weeks. Options are possible! Day range quite high for solid co. and problems in Madagascar could pass!

yes those are good but risky, i am a believer in the long term for US equities companies like GE(General Electric) are behemoths that are seriously undervalued at this moment in time. 2 - 3 years down the road this is one the stocks that will be back to its previous highs.
