But 25 million extra proifit isn't. They are growing market share in Europe - Fact. GM, Chrysler are not. US manufacturers produce in the US so many new models that for most of them resale values are pathetic. And build new plants like crazy assuming each new model is going to sweep the board. Chyrsler cars are so excellent their resale value is 28% of new after 3 years.

All very simple. The USA cannot pay unskilled labor (like auto workers) $72 an hour to build junk, when in Asia you can get the job done for $$4 an hour and no bitching unions. The workers KILLED their companies. They agreed to "no raise" DUH, they should have had a pay cut of 75% down to what they are worth - $14 a hour.

The Europe consumer has 400+ different models to choose from ..... this is a good start. I worked for Ford under contract and my opinion of Henry Ford 111 was that he was out of his depth. Some Europe managment was good. If they had not have invested in efficient engine plants and matching the durability/quality of European cars they would have been much weaker.
By they way they Ford has invested in Russia...
